Unfortunately, I agree. They have a huge population base and that earns them a lot of media exposure and money. They've got a hugely successful, cash cow TV network. The fact that they haven't been performing well on the football field in recent years but continue to rake in the cash and attention is frustrating for fans whose school plays in a highly unstable and less profitable conference, despite the fact that our conference's on-field performance has been better in recent years.Jealousy... I always cheer for the Big 10 in bowls...mainly because I want to see those programs improve so they can beat Iowa. I always cheer against Big 12 schools because I don't want them using bowl victories to get an edge on ISU. I don't understand why more people are not like me...
I mean, why on earth would anyone want KSU to win this week? So Bill Snyder can walk into recruits living rooms, possibly right after or before CPR does, and brag about winning the Cotton Bowl? **** no, man! I hope Arkansas hangs 50 on Kansas State!!!! Kansas State is one of our main rivals...why would any self respecting ISU fan cheer for Kansas State to improve thier status as a program??

I guess if the cause of all the BIG obsession is because of Iowa, isn't that a round-about way of obsessing over Iowa? Afterall, why aren't there as many SEC, Pac12, Big East, ACC hate threads? In fact, I'd be willing to bet that the number of BIG related threads outnumber the total topics of all the other BCS conferences combined.

It's not that difficult. If you live in Iowa, you are surrounded by B10 states. I can't speak for everyone, but I get to hear about how great the B10 is at work and from friends on a regular basis when in fact it's a fairly horrible conference. It's annoying, it's old and it's tiresome.
It doesn't help that Jim Delaney is a pretentious ***, he's right up there with Mike Slive and Larry Scott.
In regards to Iowa, I'm sure I'm not the only one that has heard how great they are against their "stiff B10 schedule" and how "ISU has it easy because they are in the B12". It wouldn't be that big of a deal, but the B12 would wipe the floor with the B10 without breaking much of a sweat.
Michigan (the Big 10's #2) would get waxed by Stanford, KSU, and 'Bama (the #2s in their respective leagues). Hell, they might not even beat the ACC's #2.
Right.... So where are the SEC, PAC 12, etc. hate threads.
I understand your logic, but on the whole its short-sighted. Ultimately the brand of our conference has an effect on our brand as well. We are positively impacted from the big 12 being viewed as strong, just as we would be negatively impacted by the big 10 being viewed as weak.
1. Big 12?
2. Nebby's accreditation was rescinded after joining the BIG
3. ??
4. ??
5. Oregon, Arkansas, TCU, VT, GT, Oregon are the last 6 BCS teams the Big Ten matched up with. Those are weak?
6. Sorry every game isn't a 67-56 score. I thought UW and MSU played exciting games today though.
7. .500 record last year, winning record 2 years ago.
8. Big Ten plays TOUGH teams in bowl games (three SEC teams, conference champs of 2 other conferences). Remember the SOS argument a lot of fans used here during the regular season? Yeah, I just used that here. I'll throw another gem in. "I'd love the Big Ten to play the Big 12's bowl schedule, they'd be 5-1 right now instead of 3-6. 3-6 is 6-3 with any other conferences' bowl schedule." (for the record, I still think using statements like this are cop-outs, but whatevs)

Where is the proof of this. The only proof there would be the Bama/PSU game which wasn't an extreme blowout. They won by 16 and PSu isn't Michigan. Not even close. Then, MSU beat Georgia. I don't really care if there was a coaching **** up, they beat Georgia. Sure, Florida beat OSU, but neither of those teams are any good. I guess I'm just not sure where the proof Michigan would get waxed is. I don't think KSU would beat Michigan either. Michigans front four is probably as good as KSU has faced. Stanford would probably beat them because they can throw the ball. I will be shocked if Tech beats Michigan.
1. I'll switch conference names, no problem.
2. Nebraska almost lost their accreditation in 2000, so it should not have come as a surprise. Yet there was Delaney, talking about how important accreditation was . . .
3 & 4. Both teams have appeared on "Big 10s Greatest Games", showing games that were NOT when these teams were in the Big 10.
5. Relative to the other teams allowed in the BCS, yes, those teams were predominantly the easier opponents. The Big 10 always gets a second BCS game (non-Rose Bowl) and it is almost always against an easier BCS opponent.
6. Coincidence that two of the teams willing to be slightly more forward-thinking from an offensive standpoint are two of the better teams currently in the Big 10?
7. Short memory - how about the 5 years before that?
8. Wow, again blatant fact-picking. Three SEC East teams, which was clearly the weaker division. If the Georgia FG kicker doesn't blow it, the Big 10 goes 0-5 today. How did Houston look against the hyped Penn State defense today? Doesn't look good when one of the top teams in your conference gets SMOKED by a Conference USA team. Ouch.
This is just my opinion, but until we get a real National Championship playoff system in Football, Bowl Games are more about propaganda then who is the best team....
To say the Big 10 is not one of the Top Conferences is silly, the have stability, money, power and prestige.
The Pac 10 (now12) has something like 400+ National Titles in all Sports, I believe the Big 10 was either 2nd or 3rd with over 200+ (too lazy to look up again)....
I have always been a Big 8 (12) fan, but you just have to look at this past year to see how unstable some conferences are, some where growing...? others almost imploded....
ugh, I'm so sick of the B1G network claiming old Nebraska games and especially players as their own. Before the season started, they were running down the top 10 Big 10 QBs of the 2000s. Eric Crouch was #2 on their list. When did Eric Crouch play in the Big 10? If we can somehow talk Notre Dame into joining the Big XII, do we get to put the 4 horseman in as the greatest backs in the Big XII ever?
