My conference tidbit

Just heard on Twitter from Bob Fescoe (610 sports radio in KC)...

could KU and Iowa State go with OU and OSU to pac 12? Could boise state go to pac 12 w KU, OU and OSU? So many rumors! stop the madness

This would give me two good excuses to go visit my cyclones friends in LA!!

This would be awesome. Not just because the Pac12 would bring stability and money. But because I live in Pac12 territory and would see the Clones in person in Phoenix/Tucson every year as well as much more often on TV.

I would say not a chance in hell of this happening though. Unfortunately.

It's actually really funny - I feel the same way if ISU were to join the B1G, and would see the Clones in person whenever they came to Ann Arbor and East Lansing (and yes - I do plan on seeing Hoiball at Chrysler Arena in January).

Thanks Bec for the information.
It was great to see you and the family Saturday.

Kansas will stay in BCS

By Tom Keegan

The last time conference realignment threatened to blow up the Big 12, a move to the Big East for four schools, including Kansas University, came closer than most realize, according to an insider with strong ties to one of the conferences.
The plan called for the Big East basketball tournament remaining at Madison Square Garden in New York and the football championship game alternating between Giants Stadium in New Jersey and Arrowhead Stadium.
Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri would have headed to the Big East, forming a 12-team football league.

The Big 12 stayed together, and the Big East added TCU, bringing to nine the number of football schools it will field in 2012. It would rather have 12. That’s why Kansas and Missouri need not worry about getting left out of the BCS musical-chairs game, with the Big East being a nice fall-back position. The New York Post reported that the Big East already has extended an offer to KU, K-State and MU. Iowa State will have to look for another home, probably not a BCS one.

The travel would be murder.

On the other hand, it is one of the few scenarios that would help ISU wrestling. The Pac-12 sponsors wrestling.

Odd Man In

Most writers have ISU as being the odd man out when it comes to conference realignment.

IMO I think being the odd man could be good. I am biased but ISU offers a university with strong academic programs, a research university, a strong technical focus. Athletically we have strong leadership with JP and IMO a strong core group of coaches in Rhoades, Hoiberg, Fennelly and Johnson.

When this is all said and done, I think ISU standing alone could benefit the Clones if this all falls apart. IE. Notre Dame & ISU to the Big 10.

Where does it end? Every writer out there alternating between us being in a conference and us looking for a new non-BCS home. Quoting unnamed sources... at least JP and GG are working with others behind the scenes to have a contingency plan for us. I can't even begin to think where we'll end up in all of this. The only rumor I haven't heard is us as the 14th team in the SEC when they approve A&M's petition.

I like that as an option, however unlikely. It would allow us to play the Hawks later in the year and add a patsy to the preseason. Very unlikely, but why not dream big?

Most have us out, yet surprisingly JP seemed cool and confident on Saturday, telling us all to take the finger off the panic button. Then thanks to the OP of this thread, we find that he's hanging out in the suites with multiple US Representatives and influential boosters...I like our odds at this point...no panic and power outside the clueless media

Wherever they go, they had the catbird's seat in the B12 for a couple of months with the LHN. Then they managed to fritter it away.

Could Texas end up going to the SEC?? Wouldn't that be ironic?

That's about the only guarantee in all of this that Texas will NOT go to the SEC. They'd quake in their boots at the thought of being an equal in the SEC. If they're going to be an equal, they'd do in the PAC where they'd still be a big boy even if they are equal in everything else.
