Rhoads/FB Projects

This is completely unreal. Maybe we should tear down Jack Trice and build a 20K seat stadium so it would look full all the time or put tarps over the corners and stop selling tickets at 30K so it looks full. Do you people not want ISU Football to move forward? This needs to be done because if ISU wants to compete in football it needs facilities at least in the same ballpark as everyone else. That is just reality. If you want to keep sucking hind tit then that is fine, this should have been bowled in 30 years ago. The people that do not want this bowled in are the same types that were fine with going cheap on coaches like Criner and Walden and ******* when we hired Orr because he was too expensive. If you want to compete you have to shell out dollars, that is just the way it is, if you don't like it, go watch Ames High. The percentage of our fan base that wants something for nothing and has the attitude "we are just Iowa State, we are poor and terrible and always will be" is just astounding to me.

If all objections must be met then nothign will ever get accomplished. Thank god we finally have an AD that gets it. Build the god damn thing, get some coaches in here that know what the hell they are doing and KEEP them here by PAYING them and giving them all the tools they need. End of Rant.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! QFT!

I really hope they announce something here.... Or make some sort of public fundraising campain.

I know a lot of people would put in some nice money if it was going specifically for this.

This may be a dumb question, but if people were to donate to the Gridiron Club, wouldn't it basically be going toward this?

Sounds like we should rebuild Clyde Williams Field. MIX MAN. Ah. The good old days.

can't believe the korie luscious thread has more posts then this one. i know it's bball season but come on.

Well, we've really had no new info on this front since last night. Its big news obviously, and there's enough smoke here that it looks like this is happening, but the AD may not be willing or able to directly comment on it at this time.

Might need approval from the Regents (even if the $$$ is in hand) before he can officially comment.

Nobody from the AD will likely comment on it until the B12's new 2nd tier TV rights deal is finalized this spring or summer and/or a donor is able to consumate the sale of his company assets. Will likely be upon the new contract being finalized.

Agreed. That, and regents approval will play a big part in announcement timing.

I thought the regents approved the south endzone project a year or two ago. It was just contingent upon securing the financing to get it done. I guess if the scope of the project has now changed they might have to re-submit for approval.

I hate to be cliche, but if they build it, we will come. More people will buy season tickets or just come to more games if we make additions to the stadium and improve the gameday atmosphere. The new scoreboard will help IMMENSELY. With a larger stadium and new scoreboard, better recruits will come to Ames and more winning will occur.

I think the biggest thing is the Football only building. You guys saw Kansas had a pretty good recruiting class even with a pathetic year. They have a new football only building, and that played a major role in that class.

I think a quote from Nealy when he committed was that Iowa State's facilities were nicer than he expected. He was a pretty big get, now imagine when we actually have even nicer facilities.
