Joey Votto is a very good player. He might be the reason the Reds are doing so well. Does not take away the fact that he said one of the least classiest things about one of the more classy players in baseball.

The advantage of playing at home for the NL is somewhat negated because the AL teams are just better. I might be biased though as a Red Sox fan since their last two trips to the World Series against the hottest teams in the NL were absolute blowouts in sweeping both series. The Rockies had won like 26 of their last 28 games to get there and the Cardinals were by far the best NL team in 2004. Neither series was competitive at all and the games weren't very close either.
I believe the correct term for that is a "beard". I'm sure Joey knows if thats right or not.
I disagree, it takes away the DH and makes the AL pitcher have to bat. Some teams like Boston then has to make a decision to sit a guy like Big Papi or play him at 1B where he is somewhat of a liability defensive. I find that another advantage to the NL team to remove one of their better hitters from the lineup when they play in the NL park. Not saying an AL team still can't win it but any advantage you can get as a NL team you want it. Playing at home in front of your fans and not having their DH hit is never a bad thing.
Baseball will get even with Joey Votto, it always does with players who pop off. I'm sure NL central pitchers have filed this one away, especially those on the Cubs staff.
I don't think any of the Cubs pitchers have good enough location to hit him.

Take a look at the Cubs starting rotation...not many are better in the league.
We just can't hit the damn baseball.

Can the Reds just hurry up and fall out of contention so the two Reds fans on this board will go away? You know it's going to happen; hopefully, it's sooner and not later. Honestly, nobody outside of Cincy gives two $hIt$ about Joey Votto, and most don't even know who he is.
I think Joey Votto is a very good ballplayer and underrated. I don't live in Cincinnati either.
Except he said he hates every team in the central that aren't the Reds, and used the Marlon Byrd thing as an example of how he treats those teams and their players.
Good for you! But why is anything he says news-worthy? Oh, that's right. He said something anti-Cubs, so all the pitiful Reds and Cardinals fans can have a circle-jerk about how cool it is to hate the Cubs. Reds fans (and players, I guess) should actually spend more time enjoying their team's current success, and less time relishing the Cubs lousy season.
