I can tell you several of them are…some of them probably realize it already…some of them are in for a surprise/ letdown.

A lot of these transfers will end up in worse situations or a level down. They were a middle of the pack squad there are only a handful that are Penn state level or SEC level
CW has the number of guys going to Ped St at 20. Happy Valley fans will lose their mind if it is that high.

A lot of these guys are putting their name in the portal thinking they are gonna get the call from Matt to join him at big old Penn State. In reality most are gonnna end up somewhere random like Wake Forest or App state. Unless the new staff is telling them to leave I don’t really get the urge to jump into the portal.
Matt will have some decisions to make for sure. Will guys that started at ISU be expected to start or play a lot at PSU... or will they be okay with starting at ISU and now having to sit? And if Matt starts them at PSU, will PSU players be ticked off that Matt is favoring "his guys" over them when they feel they are better?
It might be tough to please all these egos Matt. Ultimately you HAVE to win... and NOW. You won't be given time to "rebuild" there. If you're starting guys like Ebel there, or even Hansen for that matter (he's way too slow)... and not winning.... it will not be pretty.

Someone posted MC was getting tired of coaching college and might retire before this came along. I can see that…and I think more than anything he saw pedo as an $80m life raft to that.
I can see him throwing money around to his loyalists…ride out a couple years and take the payout if it all goes wrong.

Frankly it’d be great for college sports if more of them did start doing it. Maybe wake up some of these insane U’s and boosters from spending tens of millions trying to win a NC.
Not sure how anyone can rate a lot of these kids who literally did not see the field last year. All you would have to go by is their High School recruiting profile.
IMO Matt has decided to completely gut Iowa State. He really doesn’t care if all the players on Iowa State roster leave. Mouser did not get the HC job. If the program goes back to square one then it just shows everyone how great Campbell is. He could care less if Rogers and Iowa State have success. Campbell won’t have Jon Heacock as his DC at Penn State. His right hand for 12 years. Now he will have to rely on OC Mouser. Good luck Matt.
I cannot stand stuff like this. You want this to be a business? Ok, treat it like a business. If I leave my job for a competitor, guess what I get? Not a celebration of my efforts, I get my personal **** boxed up and walked to my car. To be clear, hate-Tweeting, etc. is awful and shouldn't be done. But this idea fans should support you in your new endeavors is dumb.
Now, more than ever, you have to realize we aren't rooting for the players on a personal level. I have zero personal investment in Jeremiah Cooper making as much money as he can. The only way I know Jeremiah Cooper is what he does on the football field. I rooted for him because he helped the team I root for. I can understand his choice to leave, but you can't expect fans to support you on the way out.
Agreed. I believe Campbell talked the players into opting out of the bowl game, thus costing Heacock a chance to go out with a win as the interim head coach.
Rhoads had one season with a winning record. Two 6-7 seasons. While it might have been considered decent at the time given our history, he had no big successful seasons.
I’m sure there was animosity with JP. Matt probably thought he should get everything and JP couldn’t do it without bankrupting us or the AD.
JP almost certainly leaked the pedo interview once MC went radio silent on everyone. I’d guess that was to try and drive a wedge with players & MC.
JP also one upped him with a hire announcement before pedo even made it official.

Do I think he’ll overpay for some guys…100%. He left Rocco out there to take 4 L’s in some deranged form of loyalty?

This wouldn't surprise me at all honestly. Matt is VERY thin skinned... just watch his face when he gets asked even one tough question in a presser.... you learn quickly to NOT question him. And he's no different than these other coaches... he has a large ego too.
No Mouser and no Heacock here any longer... it wouldn't shock me at all if Matt wants to see ISU suffer and start over from scratch to show the world just how important HE was here.
