IMO Matt has decided to completely gut Iowa State. He really doesn’t care if all the players on Iowa State roster leave. Mouser did not get the HC job. If the program goes back to square one then it just shows everyone how great Campbell is. He could care less if Rogers and Iowa State have success. Campbell won’t have Jon Heacock as his DC at Penn State. His right hand for 12 years. Now he will have to rely on OC Mouser. Good luck Matt.
RIght on brother. Right on.

And we learned that ‘nobody’ on this coaching staff has connections to Iowa. CJR has never recruited in Iowa? C’mon CW, do some homework.
Our new tight end coach is an Iowa native and a Wartburg grad. Wartburg is a great D3 football school and the football program is incredibly connected to Iowa high schools and coaches.

I cannot stand stuff like this. You want this to be a business? Ok, treat it like a business. If I leave my job for a competitor, guess what I get? Not a celebration of my efforts, I get my personal **** boxed up and walked to my car. To be clear, hate-Tweeting, etc. is awful and shouldn't be done. But this idea fans should support you in your new endeavors is dumb.

Now, more than ever, you have to realize we aren't rooting for the players on a personal level. I have zero personal investment in Jeremiah Cooper making as much money as he can. The only way I know Jeremiah Cooper is what he does on the football field. I rooted for him because he helped the team I root for. I can understand his choice to leave, but you can't expect fans to support you on the way out.
Awesome post. I would just add no more rooting for coaches on a personal level either. Loyalty is a 2 way street.

I understand fans for being upset about all of the players leaving, I do -- for me, I'm just not shocked. Players have not been loyal to universities pretty much ever since the transfer rules changed and NIL became such a huge factor in college athletics too.

Campbell's culture whether you want to admit it or not led to not a lot of players leaving because they genuinely enjoyed playing for him. So it's not rocket science that when he ultimately decided to leave Iowa State, that tons of players would follow suit. This happens everywhere now. And as bad as we feel about it still, imagine how Wazzu and Oregon State fans feel. They've been given the ultimate middle finger.

And for programs like North Texas, or hell even the really good FCS programs -- they are just feeder programs for FBS or P4 teams now.

This wouldn't surprise me at all honestly. Matt is VERY thin skinned... just watch his face when he gets asked even one tough question in a presser.... you learn quickly to NOT question him. And he's no different than these other coaches... he has a large ego too.

No Mouser and no Heacock here any longer... it wouldn't shock me at all if Matt wants to see ISU suffer and start over from scratch to show the world just how important HE was here.
This last month has been incredibly revealing. Can’t really think of anyone who has come off looking too good. ISU - the program suffers as a result.

Started watching Two Guys this morning.... and CW starts off talking down to the fans basically and saying they don't understand how everything works like he does. Then he gets all teary eyed again when Hassel brings up Brezina leaving. And then to top it all off... Hassel starts bringing up AGAIN how JP should have hired Mouser. WTF? I turned it off. Maybe I'll watch the rest later if I feel like I can stomach it.

If anyone honestly believes they should have hired Mouser.... they are kidding themselves... and still are too in love with Matt and his staff.
Thanks for saving me the trouble. I thought we were way past all that crap.

I'm never going to mock a man for crying, but I also can't take your reporting seriously if you get this emotionally connected to people on the inside. I'm sorry, it's just not how it works for me.

I've also heard this explanation thrown out on the other pods. "The fans just don't understand how modern football works, that's why they're so pissed." Nice strawman argument. I guarantee you the average fan understands that players are paid and can transfer at any time. That's not what we're all pissed about. We're pissed because a man took over our program, became the face of our athletics, while preaching "loyalty" and telling us how he was so different than all the other coaches out there. He was not. He left for more money and a chance to win a NC. That's all.

I'm through the grieving process. I'm just pissed at Campbell and will always root against him. Just how it is for me.

Mouser is such a short sighted hire...and I don't get how guys like CW don't understand that. He has not proven anything in his tenure. And do we really think that if we hire Mouser that no one transfers? I believe more of these players have more loyalty to Campbell than Mouser.

This is dramatic. He left for a 7 million dollar raise. Closer to home. 30 mil a year to put a team together. Blue blood program. He was here for 10 years and elevated the program to it's highest level ever. Stop being so bitter.

I thought he was 9-10, not 12?
