Assistant Coaches

Sounds like it is possible Bobbitt will get a look for head coach of WSU and will be coaching in the bowl game. How confident are we he will ultimately land in Ames?

It's very late in the cycle and a difficult job to fill. I can see them wanting to go that route.

In addition to what others have said, from the article linked:

But will Bobbit follow Rogers to Iowa State? If he does, will he do so before or after the bowl game? Could he be a candidate for the full-time head coaching job at WSU? That much is unclear at this point, but several sources in the program believe he’ll be off to Ames at some point.

Rogers wouldn’t take the Iowa State job if Bobbit wasn’t going with him, one source said, indicating that Rogers and Bobbit share a special connection. Bobbit was also Rogers’ defensive coordinator for the 2023 and 2024 seasons at South Dakota State.

If both Bobbit and Watson don't come it means a major change of plans happened. I'm pretty confident both are already on the job (Bobbit splitting his time between Iowa St and prepping WSU's players for their bowl game on the 22nd), just haven't been formally announced yet (Rogers plans to announce the staff all at once).
I'm pretty confident that our assistant coaching positions will be highly sought after, as Campbell's were really, really well compensated

Haven’t heard anything of him linked to any assistant position with Campbell. And the position groups Mouser works with are getting filled. Mouser could be odd man out. Which is a bit strange since he was touted as a possible replacement for Campbell by some. And to be an OC under Campbell.
I think that's actually objective evidence that Mouser is NOT ready to be a HC, and perhaps isn't proven enough as OC for non-fanatics to really trust his abilities. Don't get me wrong - I would be happy to have him stay on as OC; I just don't see that happening given what went down.

I bet TM has a position there, just has to weigh other options before returning to being a position coach. He clearly wants to be a head coach someday and will want to stay on that track. People at PSU think that MC is going to throw a bag at Scheelhaus and Mouser may be a fall back for that position.

I feel for Mouser. Not sure that I'd want a demotion to stay, or to go to Penn State for that matter, and his inaugural season as OC wasn't what he'd probably want it to be (obviously that's not all on him either) to land a comparable job easily.

Wow, are all B1G fans that delusional? Scheel is in the NFL.. The goal of where the majority of coaches and players want to be - the big leagues with actual regulations and contracts. Nobody is leaving that path to go to Pedo U, especially in today's landscape.

Hope the Ohio State job opens up and Matt jumps ship at some point. PSU was #3 on his top 3 list of jobs he would entertain. ND being 2nd - and saw Freeman might be a candidate for NFL as early as this year. Both OSU & ND are a better culture fits for Matt, especially w/ that center of attention AD.

Note that Matt's contracts were structured in a way that gave him an out if/when Jamie retired (see small buyout this round). Otz's contracts are the same way. That relationship is very important for MC - the ego's at that school will be cancerous. I give it 3 years. Wish Matt all the best - but actively cheer for Pedo U to loose every game and that doesn't change now.

Roehl will be our new OC, announcement should be coming soon. This is a really fantastic hire and gives us a chance at retaining some guys, especially Sama and Hansen, who I know Campbell want to follow him to Penn State
I've asked this before and didn't get a response. What makes this great? I'm not opposed to it. I'm not familiar with what he has done.

MC renegotiated his buyout down a year ago.

He’s been here so he had some player connections. He also has been the OC at a successful, albeit FCS, program. He also has NFL experience and connections to wave at players

Ran some pretty good offenses at NDSU. A lot more of heavy running attack. I would expect the starting QB to be a plus-runner, potentially more of a dual threat - similar to a Diego Pavia.

I thought Chris Williams said on one of the shows Mouser was going to Penn State...the all Iowa show?
