Assistant Coaches

What leverage did JP have to demand anything? He already had a head coach at less than market.
Just remember when people are trying to convince you that football donors were standing there with the open checkbook to keep MC from going to Penn State, the last time Campbell was working on an extension with ISU they must have been unable to find it on their desk and the buyout was reduced as a contract incentive.

Yup, asking for a lower buyout reinforces to JP that he’s preparing for his next job. Not ‘All in’.
I saw something that Kiffin's new buyout is $1.5M. If Campbell was going to jump jobs, a buyout wasn't going to prevent it.

And like others have pointed out, if Jamie demands a $4M buyout, then maybe Campbell asks for a salary commensurate for a top coach in Big12 vs. the $5M salary he had. Lance Leipold is making $6.65M and has been at KU a much shorter time than Campbell was at ISU.

There's give & take in every negotiation.

Starting to get excited with the coaches he is bringing in. Maybe it was time for a fresh ideas for a HC. Don’t get me wrong, Campbell brought ISU to a new level. But there were always things drove me nuts sometimes, especially very conservative play calling vs lessor opponents.

It’ll be fun to get a new style of play to watch. Will it be successful? I don’t know. But I’m looking forward to finding out

He and Rogers are very close and we will pay our DC not that much less than WSU will pay their head coach. Its all but confirmed that Bobbit and Watson will be Co-DCs.
And, remember WSU is without an AD. Head coaches want to know who their boss will be…

I think that's actually objective evidence that Mouser is NOT ready to be a HC, and perhaps isn't proven enough as OC for non-fanatics to really trust his abilities. Don't get me wrong - I would be happy to have him stay on as OC; I just don't see that happening given what went down.
I wouldn’t bet on Mouse getting any coaching role at ISU under a new head coach. It creates a really weird dynamic with players. Can lead to a “we/they” relationship.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Jake Menage as WR coach. Same spot he held at Wazzu and SDSU 2 years prior. Was OC at Northwestern College in Orange City in 2022 when they won the NAIA title. Former SDSU wide receiver himself.

A new coach, stressing defense and lower scoring games (burning clock with the run) is a positive combination to increase wins.
Yeah, how many times have we had a lead in the 4th qtr with 8 minutes to go, and you’re like “a nice little 6-7 minute drive here would be awesome?” Nope, either score in 90 seconds or punt in 30.

I see what you did and I don't like it
