No Bowl Game — Iowa State Turns Down Bowl Bid

You'd either have to have the players or staff learn and implement a new system in a matter of weeks. Not really possible if most of the staff is leaving. And that doesn't even include player availability. We really want to play a bowl game with walk ons and 3rd stringers?
I’m a little surprised the third stringers didn’t wanna play.

More competitive balance. No stratification like you see in CFB. Hilariously consistent game lengths. A playoff system with objective, measurable criteria to qualify vs what gins up sensationalism for ESPN.

NFL has been a better product for several years now, becoming more and more obvious with the trajectory CFB is on.
Great post. Absolutely agree with everything you wrote. I’ll add no”eye test”, no “he gone”, no “you can’t win a championship there”.

FBS college football could be the same, they'd just need to get rid of 100 teams or so.

Which seems to be the goal with the P2 consolidation.

Trying to beat the NFL at their own game will be a choice. I’d enjoy watching the fallout if it wouldn’t harm ISU so much.

PS. Great signature line!

The NFL is still great. DIII, D II, 1AA and NAIA are still great. College basketball seems to be doing fine. D1college football is what is being ruined. It's a joke and is being ran by a bunch of greedy sleezballs in the SEC, Big 10 and at ESPN.
Yeah college football can just collapse for all I care. Fans shelling out $ at half the schools for a pointless endeavor while all these coaches laugh all the way to the bank.

It was the most maddening thing the old “players are getting exploited” crowd that also thought the coaches are great guys like dumb **** Jay Bilas.

They loved fawning over coaches while pretending there are all these old guys with monocles when they’d say “the NCAA” or “The universities” making tons of money.

No, Jay, you dumbass. It was always the coaches r where most of the money went. They made the money off the backs of players. Now that players get paid they have to guilt fans into shelling out more so these coaches doing a completely meaningless job can have multi-generational wealth.

I've always contended that college basketball popularity would explode if you shrank DI to about 150 teams. November and December without true buy games would be incredible.

Not if all 110 other teams band together to form one team to beat the other 12 at the top!!

He was here 10 years which is an eternity in today's world.

So, you'd be good with Iowa State never taking a transfer from another program or hiring a coach from another program?

But the post I responded to was criticizing Jimmy Rogers for not honoring his contract. I merely pointed out that CMC did not honor his contract. And CMC‘s breaking his contract led to Rogers breaking his contract.

Good call, it is an unprecedented situation for two college football coaches to break contracts...
