No Bowl Game — Iowa State Turns Down Bowl Bid

I think people fail to understand how pissed the players are at JP for several ways he’s handled this, how many have already decided to leave, and how awful we’d look with our 3rd stringers starting. Whether you like it or not, we will not have 95% of our starters return, and that includes at QB.

JP simply needed to give up some control and CMC would be here another 10 years. Instead he basically pushes him out, cuts him off during the team meeting, doesn’t answer questions from the couple players that didn’t storm out, and before they could even swallow the news of CMC and the entire staff leaving, introduced the new guy while CMC was trying to speak.

JP built modern ISU athletics, JP could just as easily kill all momentum in the next 18 months. The clock is ticking on BF and TJ because they told JP the same exact needs as CMC. I can tell you TJ would rather be thinking retirement plans in Ames than if he’s going to stick around another 2-3 years without changes to how NIL is handled.

Rocco regressed. IMO Moberly and Manske are more important.

Are they mad he's gone or are they mad that they have to start over? There's a difference and I haven't seen many actually mad about him specifically.
The main anger I see is toward the press conference less than a year ago where he said he would never leave.

So f**ck the fans right? We buy season tickets, we’re there for every game, including watching and supporting them through a losing streak. The reward of a bowl game to look forward to at the end of the season is part of the reason I invest the time and the money for the season tickets. If we’re just gonna turn bowl games down Im going to have to think about if I want to renew my tickets next season (Ive had them for 15 years).
Good point. This will not help NIL donations, or opportunities.

So rumor has the old coach poaching the roster and the new coach was hired because he was texting the AD and the basketball coach supports him?

A lot of pages here. Just want to make sure I'm up to speed.

Jer,

Please let us know whether or not you have nearly double digit sources confirming this account.

Thanks.

This may be the season that conference championships and bowls die

As they should. Because they are pointless now. Its time to create an NFL structure with the top 4 conferences and Notre Dame. 1 Commish. Two big conferences with multiple divisions of 4 teams. Play each div team 2x. 11 game reg season. Playoff format with div winners and wild cards. Maybe 24 teams? No non P4 teams get in. If you aren't in the P4 you drop down to a new 1AA type division with seperate playoff. Player and coach contracts are similar to NFL.

Maybe thats a terrible idea but they have to do something. Otherwise it will just keep getting dumber and dumber every year. I'm getting to the point where my football interest in D1 is fading fast. The NFL might be all I really bother paying attention to.

This. Have slowly abandoned sport after sport in my life. Never thought I would prefer the NFL but at least they know how to maintain competitive balance. Looks like ISU is headed for a relegated status. If so, I’m out. A never would have thought I would have even considered it.

More competitive balance. No stratification like you see in CFB. Hilariously consistent game lengths. A playoff system with objective, measurable criteria to qualify vs what gins up sensationalism for ESPN.

NFL has been a better product for several years now, becoming more and more obvious with the trajectory CFB is on.

What a ****ing disaster. This program is gonna crater harder than the 90s like the last time we hired a coach from Washington State. EVERYONE IS LEAVING. We’ll have a roster of nobodies and walkons. 2025 will officially be the last time we beat Iowa in football. No hope. End the series. JFC.
Someone call Jackie and get her in front of this dude ... and another half dozen or so of you on this board. J*s*s !Screenshot_20251207_130210_Instagram.jpg

If there are truly no contracts then recoup the $500 grand from the players and tell them all to find a new home. In the real world if you don’t complete your job you don’t get full pay.

FBS college football could be the same, they'd just need to get rid of 100 teams or so.

That's crazy, tons of people don't do **** and get paid.

CMC did not honor his contract. That is what got us here. And now he is influencing a destruction of the program he built. CMC whole focus has been himself as he is leaving. He plans on poaching the program IMO. Iowa State is in the rear view mirror.
He was here 10 years which is an eternity in today's world.

So, you'd be good with Iowa State never taking a transfer from another program or hiring a coach from another program?

Why waste time waiting for them to choose whether to stay or go. Give them 24 hours to make their choice and the anyone with no response is gone. At least then we know where the bottom of this hole is.
