No Bowl Game — Iowa State Turns Down Bowl Bid

I do wonder before the players voted on going to a bowl game or not...whether they knew WHICH bowl they'd go to or not.

Because if they knew it was Memphis and said No, that does make a little bit more sense than if it was PHX or HOU. Sounds like Heacock would've coached them if they voted Yes.

I know if I was a player and I knew which of those 3 I was going to, it would probably have some effect on my vote/decision.

Just saw Kansas Baylor and UCF also turned down bowl offers. Perhaps the fine to KState and ISU go away?
SIAP, but the Ped St boards are claiming JP will challenge the fine in court. Claim ‘force majeure’ as evidently there are safety clauses in the contract.

Rumor is that not only is ISU getting fined $500K for skipping bowl, they might also be disqualified to receive any money from our bowl/playoff contract this season. That is a huge amount of money.

Apparently, the conference is going to make up the decision, so it could go either way. Either the fine is going to be it or those skipping bowls and violating the conference agreements and obligations, or they will be considered ineligible for any money generated from those agreements, for failing to meet the obligations.
Absolutely, idiotic to not play in a bowl. I cant find 1 legitimate reason for skipping it.
The fine structure for skipping a bowl should all be well defined in the Big 12 bylaws. If it isn't, that is a major failure on the part of whoever wrote the bylaws.

It's a free country, if they don't want to play don't play. They don't owe us fans anything.

they owe it to the University to play and now with NIL they literally owe it to the fans to play.

Does anyone know if CMC still got his bonus for making a bowl game ?

I was unaware of the appeal. I imagine it centered around not having enough players to compete safely?

In the future, if you want to leave the ISU Football team , that is fine. You have no say in what the team does. If you want to vote about what the team is going to do, you are staying. Now we have a group of young men who are still Iowa State Cyclones, that, heaven forbid, may not get to go to a bowl game because players who left, said they can’t go. Who knows what will happen.

If you only have 40 guys willing to play, it doesn't matter if the vote is 40 yes, 0 no or 40 yes, 45 no. You can't play either way.
