So did the NDSU coach, but I'm not sure that really matters if a big enough leap is offered.I think Eck might have just signed an extension.
Yes I think that is a good start to the list of candidates. I think Scheelhaase is definitely an up and comer but no Head Coaching experience at all would worry me a bit. Probably still worth the risk though. If it were me as the AD, I would be looking at Nate Scheelhaase, Jason Eck (New Mexico head coach) and native of LaCrosse, WI, Ryan Grubb, Alabama OC, native of Kingsley, IA.
Eck will probably be Wisconsin's HC by this time next year.If it were me as the AD, I would be looking at Nate Scheelhaase, Jason Eck (New Mexico head coach) and native of LaCrosse, WI, Ryan Grubb, Alabama OC, native of Kingsley, IA.
With David Cook coming in, how good is the current NDSU coach? That's going to happen anyway. Take your time, make the right hire.
There are a bunch of candidates with no Iowa State connections that would be great. Just got to find the right one and not put yourself into an artificial box.
Scheelhaase would be our best shot at continuity. We can keep much of the existing framework such as signals and the playbook without having to learn an entirely new system in the offseason.Yes I think that is a good start to the list of candidates. Genuinely how close is he with the team considering he has been away for 2 years?Scheelhaase has best chance of keeping roster together IMO. Best recruiter we have had in long time.
Iowa state is such a unique job, that can be very good in the right hands. I think being the CEO type is much more important that top notch play caller coordinator type. If you can get both great, but on field can be upgrated through assistant pool.
He's passable. He's a CEO type. O Line coach at heart. They physical the hell out of you but it's also a lot easier to do that when you can have the first 3 picks of the talent pool in every class. With David Cook coming in, how good is the current NDSU coach?
Doubtful. Also seems to be a Big Ten problem with the stories of tOSU, Michigan, and Michigan State assaulting athletes. Not trying to minimize the Penn State scandal though.but is the culture that covered it up for decades and still hasn't owned up to it?
I doubt it
Hell no. Would be way too green of a hire.Hire Anthony Becht.
