I am looking at buying a house from someone that isnt listed by a realtor. Never bought a house without a realtor. Any advice on what I need to know, forms I need, expected costs, how to make an offer, etc. Thanks!
Why does ISU always start the year off so slow with unnecessary losses under Campbell? He talks all summer about how prepared they are and the "process".. However it seems his process starts midseason, when out of title game contention. Maybe he should start the process a month earlier. The team doesn't even look the same, mainly play calling, (coaches) as it did those first few games.
I'm looking for a mechanic who would be knowledgeable with older model European cars. Specifically, I have a '79 Volvo 242 DL. It is in excellent shape, but hasn't had a thorough once-over by a pro in many years, so I want someone who could be trusted with something that old.
I've previously owned some late model Volvos, which I've taken to Campus Garage as well as a real nondescript place that used to be up in north Ames on Reliable Street called Imported Cars. The old man who ran that place was great with Volvos, but I think it has shut down???
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
By the way, the glorious old Volvo I'm talking about looks exactly like this...
What are your unpopular opinions/hot takes? (Let's keep them unpolitical and safe for work (or in a spoiler with a pretty hefty disclaimer if not - no pics) - feel free to start a similar thread in the Cave if desired.)
A few:
- The only thing at Five Guys that is better than Freddy's are their Oreo fluff milkshakes. The burgers and fries are just okay.
- Pumpkin and pecan pies are worst of the popular pie varieties.
- Dostoevsky > Tolstoy
- Harrison Ford isn't that great of an actor. He just makes that one serious face a lot with his mouth slightly agape.
Here’s the link to the latest episode of Flo’s podcast. Talk about the Clones starting at the 12 minute mark and end at the 37 minute mark as a part of their ongoing preseason top 20 breakdown. Pretty extensive 25 minute discussion of a lot of topics that have been talked about on here. Every team they had previously broken down only got 10-15 minutes of discussion, so there’s national intrigue in terms of what’s going to happen this year. Everyone seemed to be pretty bullish on the team and the potential they have. Enjoy!
Having read through the thread here and another copy cat thread on another site that shall remain nameless, figured a poll was fitting. mods please merge if possible. I put every team mentioned in each thread minus a few that don't fit my definition spelled out below
rebuild definition: a team expects to win 7+ games year in and year out.
because of that definition, i left out teams like nebraska and tennesse who can probably get to that level fairly easily compared to the teams on the list. teams like nebraska have unrealistic expectations and will probably never reach heights of years past but fans expect it.
consider:
recruiting grounds
other teams in same state (recruiting competition)
other teams in same conference/division (poor arkansas/Rutgers)
academic standardsn (tough go vandy)
geographical appeal (lets face it, midwest is tough to recruit to)
facilities
stadium capacity/fan support

Iowa State @ Texas Tech
Players to Watch:
Brock Purdy is the player to watch in this one as the true sophomore has come into his own as of late and is putting forth elite grades once again this season. He’s the owner of the nation’s highest-graded game as a passer (against UL-Monroe) and against the Texas Tech pass defense that ranks 98th in coverage grade, should have quite the afternoon. The Red Raiders can score with the best of them but it will take a few more big-time catches from star receiver T.J. Vasher to do such a thing against the Iowa State secondary.
Expert Prediction:
Iowa State is the better team and needs a win to stay in the hunt for a Big 12 title appearance. With the Oklahoma schools on the horizon, the Cyclones come out shaky but right the ship in the second half and cruise with another dominant game from Purdy.
