Installing Black Vinyl Chain Link Fence

Once the ground thaws I am having a 6 foot tall black vinyl chain link fence installed. I have contacted 3 companies so far, one has already given me a quote. The quote I have is 4200 dollars installed and includes taxes and fees. They noted that every single post is set in concrete. One of the companies uses post anchors by default, and concrete if requested. The third, Central Iowa Fencing, pounds in the posts 3 feet into the ground, and I believe use concrete for terminal posts. Is it normal to not use concrete for chain link posts? They have really great reviews, and I'm assuming this quote will come in cheaper. They offer a 5 year no heave warranty on the work, which concerns me a little...I believe my soil has a lot of clay, because in my front yeard, you can see a ton of cracks in the soil when it's really dry. I'm assuming I will be in this house for at least the next 10 years. What are your experiences?

To InstaPot or not

Wife keeps saying she wants to get one of these. I don't get it. What is the rage about these things? Is the cook time that is cut back or what? We got an air fryer a couple of years ago and we really like it. We already have like four different crock pots in the house. I need some convincing reviews from folks that have one. I even see there is even a ninja brand instapot. We already have the ninja blender and coffee maker, I don't think we need another ninja appliance in our house. TIA!!

So what will the reaction be IF this season gets turned around?

At this low point of the season, what constitutes a RATIONAL "salvaged season"? (choose up to 3)

Will we see the fan mood swing as dramatically in the other direction IF the season gets turned around?

On the players? On Coach Prohm? Future of the program?

2019 Concert Thread

I can't find the old thread - hope it's okay if I start a new one.

Post all of your concerts here!

We're getting tickets tomorrow presale for Violent Femmes/Ben Folds:

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ben-folds-violent-femmes-tickets-57636703933

I had tickets for the Femmes up at First Ave a million years ago, drove all of the way up there. Find out that Gordon cancelled last minute w/a sore throat, so First Ave gave us tickets to the club instead for that night for free. I've always wanted to see them. And Ben Folds is fun.

CONTEST: Win 2 all session 100-level tickets to the Big 12 Tournament

We did this a few years ago ... @rochclone is a great poster and wants to give away two 100-level all session passes to the Big 12 Tournament to a father/son, father/daughter combo. Mothers included too! Here's what he wrote me.

It is very important to me that these tickets go to a parent/child combination once again. I have been lucky enough to go to every Big 12 Tournament since 1987 with the exception of last year when my wife and I were lucky enough to have our second child on March 2nd (not the best planning by me). Most of the years I went with my father and later in life we incorporated my mom, my wife, sister and brother-in-law. Anyway, I remember crushing losses like Junior year Vic Alexander losing to #1 Seed Oklahoma on a last second 35 footer. I remember the crushing loss to Baylor that was just a small preview of the Hampton debacle a week later. And I remember winning in 1996 and 2001 and how awesome that was to share with my Dad. I also remember the trips to Dallas and Oklahoma City and loving the experience but realizing it wasn't the same as Kansas City. Basketball simply means more in that town. I remember the years under McDermott where I was just hopeful we could somehow pull an upset and just advance to the second day. And finally I remember the recent run with Fred and Coach Prohm and winning three of the last five Big 12 Tournaments. That number is truly amazing. But most importantly I remember all those experiences being alongside my father. The memories he created with a young 9 year old until now when I'm a 40 year old man is something that I will never be able to completely repay. I hope to take my two boys when they are old enough but for now the way I choose to pay it forward is by doing this.

My Dad and I will be making the trek again to Kansas City this year and I would love it to know that four of our tickets make it into hands of people that can create their own memories. I don't need any recognition. That is something my Dad should get.

So here's what we are going to do. From now until tomorrow night at 5, the "contest" will be open. What's the "contest?" Tell us WHY you want these tickets, who they will go to, how you will use them, why it's important to you, etc.

The CF staff will vote on the winner and announce it on tomorrow night's radio show.

Sound good?

GO.

European Vacation ideas

Wanting to get thoughts on a European vacation.

No kids
Willing and able to drive while I'm there. Of course I prefer rail travel. We pack light with one backpack each.
10-12 days
Prefer a mix of 50/50 large cities/small towns
Like to incorporate good food into most trips.
Usually do open jaw flights if needed
This isn't the type of vacation where we just relax and sit by the water, we want to see things
Wife can speak a little Italian and French.
September or October

We've been to Italy north and south, France north and south, Southern Germany/Northern Austria, England(London), Belgium, Netherlands, and all over Ireland.

Would love to visit Switzerland but just too much $$$. I've heard the same thing about the Scandinavian countries.

Some places we're considering are Spain, Scotland, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, Austria, Montenegro, etc.

Recommendations?

Info: Regarding the "Super Fanatic" upgrades

First of all, thanks to the Fanatics who have already signed up. Without each and everyone of your loyalty, this site would not exist.

I just wanted to clarify a few things for everybody.

1) I never intended for this thing to go "live" when it did. That's why it wasn't 100 percent ready to go when you all started signing up. So I do sincerely apologize for that. The developer hit the button, I didn't know it and you guys did what you do and started supporting it, which I appreciate.

2) I had a good talk with the dev this morning and I told him that we need to expedite the ad-free mobile option. I don't want you all feeling ripped off about this.

3) I do want to start having Patreon/Super Fanatic get togethers. Please give me until after the season to get that all organized. I'll also start actually promoting this new aspect of the site at that time as well.

Anyway, that's where we are at on it.

You'll also like to know that we have already paid for and are currently developing a new CF app. Should be awesome. We're told it'll be ready late spring/summer. We are using Patreon funds to build it.

Thanks all! Please hit me up if you ever have any questions.
