1. Goonies- Absolutely love this movie. It was great since I could watch it with my kids and they are fans now also. Still want to go to Astoria. Quick note. John Matusak who played Sloth played football at Iowa Central Juco.
2. Rambo- I remember wanting to do all the Rambo stuff. Rambo movies are one of the reasons I joined the Marines. My Parents bought me a Rambo knife for Christmas and the neighborhood kids thought I had the best parents ever
3. Raiders of the Lost Arch- If you can't tell I like adventure type movies. Raiders was so good.
4. Rocky 4- It's not the best Rocky but I watched it at Merle Hay Cinema and will never forget the crowd cheering when Rocky defeated the Russian
5. Breakfast Club- Basically loved every John Hughes movie. Breakfast club was so good and so unique. No other movie really like it.

For the third straight fiscal year, Missouri’s athletic department finished with a budget deficit, according to documents submitted by the school to the NCAA and obtained by the Missourian. In the 2019 fiscal year, which ran from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019, the deficit was $1.79 million.

That is slightly smaller than last year’s deficit of about $1.81 million, which was notably smaller than the $4.56 million deficit the athletic department reported in 2017. After revenue growth last year, though, the school reported a slightly lower revenue stream in fiscal year 2019.

The department’s revenues were $106.6 million, just shy of the $107.3 million reported in fiscal year 2018. That year was the first time the athletic department reported revenues exceeding $100 million.

Hi all -

I'm new to the forums, but I'm very interested in starting a discussion regarding the future of medical education at Iowa State. Specifically, I'd like to hear the community's thoughts on the possibility/feasibility of ISU eventually building a medical school. Key word here is "eventually", as I realize the many hurdles in the way of making this a reality in the near-term.

The obvious hurdles:
-Funding: highly unlikely the Regents would fund even a small fraction of this, the project would certainly rely heavily on donations
-Carver College of Medicine (MD) and Des Moines University (DO): is there even demand for more medical education?

In terms of funding, the large donations ISU has seen in the recent 5 years makes me relatively optimistic that the capital is out there to make this happen, if the idea ever gained any traction. Many universities across the country (particularly in Texas) are adding medical schools, in an effort to boost university research funds and prestige. Of course, Iowa is not Texas. That said, medical education seems like it fits very well within the university's strengths in science in technology. Frankly, it's a perfectly natural fit, and I doubt many would dispute that. Not to mention the university's newly emphasized focus on innovation. A medical school would certainly increase the university's reputation as a place of innovation.

Could anyone foresee a scenario in which ISU acquires Mary Greeley Medical Center (or, even more outlandish, Des Moines University) to create a new medical school? Or otherwise builds one from the ground up? Is the interest there? Could the funding eventually be there (let's call "eventually" within the next 25-30 years)? Is it absurd to think that a state like Iowa could have 3 medical schools in this time frame?

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this subject. Hoping for a reasonable discussion, if possible. Feel free to cover facts, possibilities, hurdles, etc. that I may have missed.

At least don't but beer at the first game. 3 kids were arrested for stealing beer at Neyland Stadium at Tennessee. Which probably meas that beer was left over from last year and will sit all summer before getting sold next season. I'd hate to pay whorehouse prices for old crappy beer.

I do QA work at a food factory. Most of the time, I sit at a desk in front of a computer, but I do have to occasionally collect samples on the lines. Last Thursday, I spent an hour on a production line. I was sent home early today because three people on that line just tested positive for COVID-19.

We have been lucky here in Iowa, lucky enough to dismiss this as mostly being "New York" or whatever. That isn't the case. It is here in Iowa now, and will get worse. We are nowhere near peak here.

I feel fine right now, but I will take it easy for the next few days just in case.

We always complain about ISU guys getting shafted in the draft. Here is some interesting statistical analysis by a Reddit user. Only going by the numbers and not attributing any sort of reason, ISU ranks 3rd lowest of any D1 team that has sent at least 30 players to the NFL since 2000.
