PODCAST: Talking with Tyler Harris

I'm with you CW, went to Rendezvous on a work trip and it was hands down the best barbecue I've ever tasted.

I know it is touristy and there are probably better places, but I really did enjoy it. Memphis remains a really fun place.

Great interview. Sounds like Tyler is ready to hit the ground running
He made a great choice.

If we have Harris as pg next year, does it influence whether we play with two bigs or one?

Ive thought we’d play Johnson or a wing at the 4. Even more so now. Keep the lane free for him. I guess if Foster finds his inner JVB, he’d pull the defender and be great at lobs with Harris, but defense would still be a question.

Foster being a "rich man's JVB who can defend inside/out" is my dream.

Him being a viable 4 in the Big 12, sort of in the Dean Wade or Georges Niang mode, opens up a lot of lineup possibilities for the team.

Something like this...

Harris
Bolton
Johnson
Foster
Young

...could be fun.

That’s likely the vision in his early very high rankings, and even current (just) high rankings.

A JVB that can defend away from the paint and also handle/create a bit, is a hell of a player at 7’0”! But I’d take him being simply a JVB. That would be huge for the team the next couple years.

Hope this becomes viable. Playing Foster at the 4 between 10-15/ games gives us a nice alternate option. I do think when he is at the 4 we should take advantage and play our best shooters on the wings regardless of size. ( Bolton, Jackson viable)

Foster, Blackwell, Johnson, and Dubar will all be in the conversation at the 4. If we land someone like Brown at the 3 then we are really in business.

I’m liking this post twice.

That’s a nice lineup. With some pieces on the bench to allow for a more flexible lineup as needed.

And if we add Brown and one of the other 3 freshmen positively surprise? Things get very interesting, and likely very fun.

Harris
Bolton
Brown (a guard at 220 he could play nearly 1-4)
Johnson
Foster

The second unit could compete with what we had at the end of last year
Tre
Walker/transfer
Dubar/Blackwell
Conditt/Dubar/Blackwell
Young/Conditt

When we were in Memphis for the most recent Liberty bowl, we talked to some locals at Memphis Made Brewing. They told us to avoid Rendezvous because it was the tourist trap and go to The BBQ Shop. We took them up on their recommendation and glad we did that place was fantastic. I can't compare it to Rendezvous because we didn't try it, but my parents did and they said it was really good. So basically Memphis has great BBQ everywhere.

But it’s no KC BBQ.

I like it too, but what are the chances Harris can even play next season? We need a good eligible point guard next year otherwise we are screwed.

That Memphis court is a grievance!

We were going after GT guards regardless, but now another pg may be in play imo. If not, they must know something
