I can't remember any professor not allowing audio recording of classes during my time (2011-2015). I remember a lot of students putting their recorder up on a table near the professor's podium. I know the new flavors of AI have changed things but just have your laptop record it.
My note taking is and was pretty awful and I do better by watching/listening then trying to write down and listen. I'm doing my MBA right now and having AI record and summarize for me. It has helped. Though my issue in undergrad wasn't tests for the most part, it was doing the homework. My masters is going much better in that regard lol

She is just not that good on any song, except the one where she doesn't have to sing, but raps instead. Hollaback Girl? Is that the name of it?
If you assign written work, you have to assume that every submission is AI-written. It's a wreck, but you get to see tons of alternative facts you've never thought of before.

A long, long time ago, when I was in high school, they still had classes in shorthand. I needed a couple of free electives my senior year, and my advisor recommended I take the shorthand class. Did that ever pay dividends for me at ISU and graduate school for note taking; huge. I took a class in typing too, we tapped away on those old IBM Selectrics. I wasn't very good, but the teacher had pity on me and gave me a B, LOL. But again, learning to type like that sure paid dividends later on.
The funniest thing to me at the time is that all my buddies razzed me for taking classes in shorthand and typing, until they learned that 90% of the students in both classes were girls. !!!!
You are a smart man for taking classes with the girls. Oh, the short hand and typing was smart as well. I think we are chewing some of the same timelines as I took a typing class in high school as well. I had to drop the class at semester, the teacher caught me looking at the keys to many times and taped a sheet of paper over the keyboard. She felt sorry for me also and gave ma a C. She almost made me use a manual typewriter.
