Plus you are head over in heels about the concept of pooling because it mirrors what the NFL does. Pooling doesn't write checks. The NFL has printed money because of limited inventory (14-16 wkly games) and they continue to add partners and add game windows. 20 years ago it was CBS/FOX & ABC. Now it's CBS/FOX/ESPN/NBC/Amazon/NFLNet/Netflix & YouTube. Plus the NFL continues to encroach on CFB game windows: Thu Night, T-giving night, more Sat Dec games, more international games.

The Big 10 was smart in their recent media deal by engaging NBC & CBS OTA in addition to FOX OTA. A very NFL like media rights approach.

You’re again ignoring the fact that Fox is the 100% rights holder via their BTN majority stake. That alone reduces the ceiling of what the B10 should be getting. And as clearly pointed out by multiple media outlets, NBC and CBS got effed by Fox with their sublicense deals. Yeah, great business by Fox but the B10 could have done better

And if you still don’t understand the benefits of pooling by now for CFB and having multiple bidders drive up the price for bundled premium and non-premium inventory while having accces to CFP rights, you never will. It’s exactly why Fox and and ESPN are puppeteering the B10 and SEC against pooling in the PCSA and those aren’t my words, they are Sen Cantwell’s and she is correct. And the fact that ESPN was sole bidder for the latest CFP rights extension due to lack of strategic pooling is all you need to know that the current system is effed up and leaving billions on the table for all of FBS.

Texas A&M and FSU beg to differ on that one

That is the crux of the thread. Can CMC actually get those guys to come to his team and buy in? The good news this year is he should win 10 games and be able to sell winning, the bad news is that if those 4/5 stars don’t want to buy into what he’s selling at PSU. I think the recruiting will be a lot better in 2027 after a winning season

I think the fact we had some good skill position guys makes it easy for people to forget the deficiencies those teams did have. Im amazed guys like Montgomery and Hall ran for the yeards they did because the line was piss poor for most of Campbell's tenure in Ames.

I would say talent wise, ISU was in the bottom half of the conference for most of Campbells time here. That will not be the case at Penn. State. ISU has placed 26 players currently in the NFL, Penn State is at 59, so twice as many as we have, when you have that much talent is going to be easier to play poorly and still win the game.

That team was overrated anyway. It was a bunch of guys that had a good season in the covid year. In retrospect it had a ton of issues. Purdy's turnovers, the offensive line, lack of WR's, and guys like Mike Rose showing his all-American status the prior year was a fluke. That team wasnt that great. The preseason rankings was a joke. It was at best a team ranked 20-25. How many NFL guys were on it? I dont know why people refuse to believe the COVID season didnt actually meant something. It was like an NFL team the strike year bragging about their success. Its not like the Oregon team we beat in the Fiesta Bowl was even good. They were 4-3 ffs. And im old enough to remember when Purdy played at ISU. Half the people on this board couldnt wait for him to be gone. Their record that year was way more realistic about the kind of team that was than the year before.

This idea that he will struggle to recruit there is crazy, you are at a name school with plenty of money. He will recruit as well as Franklin did or better.

To your point, his handling of the expectations will also be a huge challenge. Toledo and ISU are nothing compared to what he’s going to face. Fortunately for him, his first season schedule is 10 win capable.
