BYU Pre-Game Activities

Re-posting in the football discussion.
So I am headed to Ames this weekend for the BYU game with my 2 kids. We have a 3 hour drive so depending on when we leave, get in between 10 and 11 and park in the free spots up north.
As a Civil Engineering grad, they are having a tent, so plan to get food there.
I know the spirit walk is around 11:50.
In the past we have always just gotten there in time to get in and get to the Hillside. What other things should I plan to do with the kids?

Also besides the hillside wall is there anywhere else to watch the team during walkout? Is there anywhere accessible between Stark and JTS?

G-League back to NCAA

I apologize if this has been discussed, but pretty great stuff from Izzo, who seems to be one of the few of the old guard holding on in this new landscape. Basically Louisville just added a guy to their roster who was paid to pay in the G-League for the last 2 years.

Seems like the floodgates could open back up for professional players who had remaining eligibility to return to college. You think of a guy like Wiggington who couldn't stick on a roster but didn't use up all his eligibility. Could be really interesting to see how far this extends.

BYU Pre-Game

Moved this over to the football discussion as it is more than just tailgate

*** 2025 Week 9 (Oct. 21-Oct. 25) CFB Games Thread ***

To me the Tuesday thru Friday games are pretty much poop this week.

The best game Saturday other than ISU-BYU of course might be in the FCS. #1 North Dakota St. @ #2 South Dakota St. at 7:00 pm on ESPNU.

Tip Top Lounge on Game Day

Our tailgate crew is ether small this weekend and we are thinking about a quick bite and drinks at a local place before the BYU game. We typically drive past the Tip Top 4-5 hours before games and there's always a line to get in. Any thoughts on how crowded it may be say 1.5 -2 hours before a mid afternoon game?

***2025-2026 College MBB Survivor Game

Welcome back to the third annual MBB survivor game!
Here are the rules:
*Week runs from Monday to Sunday. Week one begins November 3 and ends November 9.

*You cannot pick a team more than once during this competition.

*You cannot join the game after the first week of games has ended.

*Failing to make any picks for a week will eliminate you.

*Pick up to three undefeated teams that you think will remain undefeated for that week. Any loss to a D1 school by one of your picked teams will eliminate you. Losses to D3 or lower teams do not count.

*All of your picks for a week (up to three teams) must be listed in the same post, and your post must be time stamped prior to the time the first of your teams tips off.

*Please bold your picks so they stand out in the thread.

*If you make changes to your picks, they must be made before the first tipoff of the new team AND the tipoff of the team you are switching off of. Also, as a favor to me if you edit your post, please @ me so that I can change my spreadsheets.

*You will get one point for each D1 win your team(s) get during the week.

*Week 4 will be a BYE week for all of us – it’s too hard to try to track all of the Thanksgiving week schedule changes, and I will be in Vegas, and I don’t want to do it! My game, my rules! ;)

*Winner is the last player standing. In the event of a tie, points will be the tie-breaker.

FAQs
“Exhibition” games do not count, but midseason and end of season tournament games WILL count. Essentially, any game that will count against a team’s win/loss record will count. “Exhibition” games are games against D3 teams (or lower) that are not counted in a team’s win/loss count on ESPN.

As an example (for scoring clarification), from the Big Sky conference Eastern Washington has three games against D1 schools, Idaho has one D1 and one D3 game, Idaho State has two D1 and one D3 games, and Sacramento State has 2 D3 games. Max points for the first three teams would be 3, 1, and 2. You would not be able to pick Sacramento State that week because they play only D3 teams.

In the charts on the following posts, you will see the conferences, teams, and the first week of games. D1 indicates an eligible game. X indicates a game against a non D1 team. Remember that the week ends on Sunday, so I will have very little time to post remaining teams before Monday’s games tip off. I STRONGLY suggest you research your picks before posting them, because with 31 conferences, 367 teams and 773 games in the first week alone, mistakes can and will be made. ☹

In some weeks, there actually may be extra games beyond the ones I list, especially for the blue bloods. There are often tip-off classics and such that are not on the ESPN schedule until the last minute. I typically use ESPN – they’re pretty good at keeping up to date but they don’t get everything. Here’s a link: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/teams

The next few posts will contain all (I hope) of the games for week one, beginning on Monday, 3 November. Make your picks, and post them in this thread. I will tag all of the players who participated the past couple of years. Feel free to tag anyone else you think might like to join. Good luck!
