What would be your transfer portal announcement?

Reading all these transfer portal announcements on social media got me thinking…What would be my announcement?

With a little bit of help from the Grok unhinged….

️ CYCLONE NATION… IT’S BEEN REAL, BUT YA BOY IS OFFICIALLY ENTERING THE TRANSFER PORTAL!!!

Coach Campbell built this thing from the dirt, turned Ames into a straight-up WAR ZONE, and now he’s dipping to Happy Valley to chase rings at Penn State?? Bro, if the GOAT is leaving, I’m not sticking around to get rebuilt by some new dude. NO OFFENSE JIMMY ROGERS, but I came here for the Process™ and that Process just packed its bags for PSU!!! ‍♂️

I’ve been pancaking linemen, catching fades in the red zone, and eating corn dogs at the state fair like a king for years… but it’s time to level up. Who’s got the biggest NIL bag? Who’s got the natty vibes? Who’s ready to turn me into a first-rounder?? DMs WIDE OPEN, coaches sliding in already like it’s Tinder on steroids.

Thank you Cyclone fam for the memories – the upset W’s, the Fiesta Bowl hangover, the tailgates that went till sunrise. Y’all rode with me through the mud. ❤️ But this portal ‘bout to be a bloodbath and I’m ’bout to feast.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE, NOW WATCH ME DISAPPEAR INTO THE VOID!!! ➡️❓

Merry Christmas, You Filthy Animals!

I'm a bit early, but we are preparing to leave the country until after the New Year. So I just wanted to take a minute to acknowledge each of you on the board and share my appreciation of everyone. We are all drawn to this site because of our love for ISU. But beyond this, we all come from generally similar backgrounds - and typically Midwestern values. I enjoy the humor and banter that this site allows, and due to C.W. and the teams' constant efforts it is one of the best fan sites out there. Thank you all for being Cyclones. We've had yet another hell of a year, but this fanbase continues to carry these teams. We continue to love the process and hold perpetual hope that the process will overwhelmingly ravish us at some point in return. All this to say, thank you, and Merry Christmas to you all!

2015-2016 Roster Reflection

With the mass exodus of football players over the past few weeks (as expected), it’s really made me appreciate and put in perspective how well the 2015-2016 team was able to stay together after Fred left (and TJ didn’t get picked). I get that it was a completely different era of transfer rules and NIL at that point vs now, but I just can’t imagine how awful it would feel if Niang, Monte, or Naz didn’t finish their career as Cyclones.

Perspective.

Fellow Cyclones. Just wanted to post some perspective, as it is easy to get caught up in current events and uncertainty.

Our football program is undergoing a dynamic restructuring. We witnessed astounding advancement and success the past ten years. Change is inevitable, but we have always landed on our proverbial feet. After Walden, we were blessed with McCarney. After Chizik, we received Rhoads. We were then blessed by Campbell/Heacock. Now we get Rogers. All will be well, but it might take time.

In the interim, do not forget that ISU has the #3 ranked MBB team and the #10 ranked WBB team. Both programs have hall of fame coaches guiding them. Most universities would KILL to have this sort of success. Add in world-class Wrestling and Cross Country programs, and it's easy to see how blessed we are. Embrace it...we're a Basketball, Wrestling, and Track/Field school with a rebuilding Football program!

The future is very, very bright. If you cannot accept this, then I don't know what to tell you (so I won't say anything).

Go Cyclones!

Vehicle Maintenance - Make it Run Forever

I've been a bit obsessed lately about getting my vehicles back on schedule, how about you, what do you have and what are you working on, or planning?

In the Garage:
2010 Toyota Prius - 277k miles (125k mine)
2015 Mazda CX-5 - 107k miles (50k mine)

I recently had a temp light that would come on in the Prius for 10-15 seconds, then be gone for months, very annoying. I decided to replace the water pump and thermostat, which requires replacing the coolant. So far I have not seen the temp light again, yay!

Then I realized I was a little lax on some of my maintenance, besides oil changes and air filters...and rotation, replacing the tires and breaks when needed. That's when I started obsessing and planing my next moves.

I'd never done the transmission fluid or spark plugs in either vehicle, since I've owned them. The Mazda is AWD so that also needs transfer case and rear differential maintenance. I have completed the spark plugs and transmission fluid, the Prius is a total drain and fill, the Mazda was only a partial drain and fill. I also replaced the transfer case fluid in the Mazda while I was under there. Oh, ya I also disassembled and cleaned out the Prius' EGR system, which I've heard can cause catastrophic issues on this model.

The Prius is pretty much caught up. I still have the rear differential fluid on the Mazda, and planning on doing a coolant drain and fill.

CFP Timeline

I'm sure it's been beat to death... but they really need to fix the CFP timeline. How it currently is set up:

  1. Conference Championship games - Dec 6th
  2. Selection Sunday - December 7th
    1. 1 day after Conf Champ games (they got this right)
  3. 1st Round Games - December 19th/20th
    1. 13/14 days AFTER last game played
      1. assuming they played in a conf championship game
  4. Quarter Final Games - December 31st/January 1st
    1. 11/12 days after the 1st round
    2. 25/26 days for any bye teams
      1. assuming they played in the conf championship game
  5. Semi Final Games - January 8th/9th
    1. 7/8 days after Quarters (they got this rightish)
  6. Champ Game - January 19th
    1. 11 days after Semis

How I'd like to see it:

  1. Conference Championship games - Dec 6th
  2. Selection Sunday - December 7th
    1. 1 day after Conf Champ games
  3. 1st Round Games - December 12th/13th
    1. 6/7 days AFTER last game played
  4. Quarter Final Games - December 19th/20th
    1. 6/7 days after the 1st round
    2. 13/14 days for any bye teams
  5. Semi Final Games - December 31st/January 1st
    1. Because we have to "protect the bowls" - i guess
    2. Games on New Years Eve/Day are fun
  6. Champ Game - January 10th through the 12th
    1. Keep it on Monday if you want to... I don't care
The break right now for the teams with a bye is absolutely a disadvantage unless you are severely banged up. Sitting on your butt for almost 4 weeks is a long time.

Feel free to dissect or disagree with anything i have, curious what other people think. Nothing I say will change anything... but how this setup is today is stupid.

What defines a 'fast food' restaurant?

The burger thread got me wondering what people consider to be 'fast food' or 'fast casual'. I typically think any place that has a drive through and no waiter/waitress to fall under fast food. And more of a limited menu as well. Which is why a place like Culver's, for example, is to me kind of both fast food AND fast casual.

What do you consider 'fast food' restaurants? 'Fast casual'? And what makes you define it that way?

Fast casual to me:
  • Culver's
  • Noodles and Co
  • Chipotle
  • Shake Shack
  • Five Guys
  • Portillo's
  • Panera
  • Qdoba

  • Locked
Warren Sapp is a "first amendment auditor"

Apparently he spends all of his time away from the CU football facility harassing and recording interactions with public officials. He's recently turned his attention to the town of Louisville, south of Boulder, where I have a friend who is a cop. He comes into their office screaming and yelling, and demanding records immediately. He schedules meetings with the police chief, berates him, and storms out if the chief defends himself and his department. Oh, he also parks in their handicap spot.

Apparently he is completely broke, blew all his career earnings, and is just an angry person. What a ******* clown.
