Fellow Cyclones. Just wanted to post some perspective, as it is easy to get caught up in current events and uncertainty.

Our football program is undergoing a dynamic restructuring. We witnessed astounding advancement and success the past ten years. Change is inevitable, but we have always landed on our proverbial feet. After Walden, we were blessed with McCarney. After Chizik, we received Rhoads. We were then blessed by Campbell/Heacock. Now we get Rogers. All will be well, but it might take time.

In the interim, do not forget that ISU has the #3 ranked MBB team and the #10 ranked WBB team. Both programs have hall of fame coaches guiding them. Most universities would KILL to have this sort of success. Add in world-class Wrestling and Cross Country programs, and it's easy to see how blessed we are. Embrace it...we're a Basketball, Wrestling, and Track/Field school with a rebuilding Football program!

The future is very, very bright. If you cannot accept this, then I don't know what to tell you (so I won't say anything).

Go Cyclones!

Final 4 please, this is the team, this is the year. We have had impressive teams but always still seemed like a long shot. Felt like last year could have been but injuries left us as a shell of a team. Long way to go and stay healthy.
Preach!

Football has definitely not always landed on its feet.
I beg to differ. One needs perspective. We generally have improved. Gone are the one win seasons. If you were around during the lean years, you get it. If you were around then and don't get it, then maybe not follow ISU football, because you are subjecting yourself to un-needed pain.

Good grief. Don’t sit here and tell people how good things are while the football team gets absolutely gutted. It sucks. Don’t try to spin it any other way. The Jimmy Rogers hire has to work. It’s probably the most important hire in the history of ISU athletics. If it doesn’t work out, ISU football will likely never recover due to the current landscape of CFB. I think he’s assembled a decent staff but that doesn’t really matter if we can’t bring in the right talent.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m glad the bball team is good, but I’ve literally never seen them advance past the sweet 16 in my lifetime, so I’ll believe it when I see it.

I never said it did not suck. It does suck. But the sky ain't falling, sister. Stop the hyperbole. We will be fine. We were screwed in the Elite 8 by the "blarge", but, I reckon that was before you signed up for the ISU program. FWIW, probably not much, but I was born in Ames and graduated from ISU three decades ago. You clearly don't know what "bad" is.

Keep caring about our school. This is our school. Our family. Our friends. Some stay, some go. New ones come in. Unexpected things happen. Good and bad.

Iowa State is made great by it's people. The fans, the players, the coaches, the administrators, everyone that comes through this glorious campus and associates with this university in multiple capacities. As long as the fans stay and stay engaged, ISU will be all good. Ride out the storm like only Cyclones can do.

I preached this in another thread.

But when you look at what JR did at WSU it’s nothing short of remarkable. And the kids he cobbled together in under 60 days played a bowl game when our group of ‘processors’ tucked tail and voted to stay home.

WSU looked damn good and played hard for a coaching staff and team that wasn’t going to exist 24 hours after the final play.

We’re gonna have new guys. That sucks because we thought our coach & players cared about us & Iowa State like we did them.

They don’t. We’ll find ones who do!

Worse comes to worse we can always call Gene Chizik back to take us to a National Championship…I hear he’s available! Lol

You've lived the good life young man.

Those who complain about water under the bridge are chronic complainers. I, for one, appreciate the rational of forward thinking. And, of course, it's ok if that's a territory of debate. It should be. But, to ***** about what's already behind us serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever. And for those prognosticators who someday want to say, "I told you so.", I pray your life doesn't hinge on stuff like that.

Dammit, people, if you have somewhere to sleep tonight, and something to eat, and someone who loves you, you have everything. The rest is just gravy.
