South Dakota: We're "On Meth"

South Dakota's new tagline for its anti-meth campaign is, "Meth. We're On It" complete with a web site, onmeth.com. Actual grown-ups approved this and the governor even recited it on video.

This is some ad agency's idea to break through the noise and attract attention, but I'm not sure how effective it is when the first reaction (and the second, and the third, and the fourth...) is to make jokes at your state's expense. Let's see if it survives being a national laughingstock or if they change it.

CenturyLink bill

We live in the boonies and have been stuck with 0.5 Meg 'high speed' internet service from CenturyLink. They allowed us discounts in the past because of the poor service and our bill was $54/mo. Even though the service is still crap, they are now increasing our bill to $103/mo. in order for us to "pay what we should have been paying".

We'd love to dump our CenturyLink friends but options here seem limited. Satellite options any better?

Friday OT - The Big Cheese

I was listening to R.E.M. the other day where there's basically one person who just sort of makes the band. R.E.M. is an example - the others are all awesome, but Michael Stipe is sort of the person without whom they wouldn't have really happened.

What are some other bands where one person defined them?

OT: Ames bars for fun this Friday

ISU grad here but it's been years since I went out in Campustown. I am bringing a few friends from the Twin Cities this weekend and they want to go out in Ames on Friday. What are the best bars for 30+ people. We will for sure hit Welch Ave Station but what other bars in Campustown specifically are a good time for a few drinks?

In my heyday it was Dean's List, Sips, and Paddy's.

Ames Game Day To Do List

Greetings Cyclone Fans,

I'm an Oklahoma State Alum that lives west of Chicago a ways. I've been too busy with work and kids to ever get back to Stillwater and watch a game, so this year I said "Screw it" and bought tickets for me, the wife, and two girls to the OSU vs ISU game on OCT 26th.

I am really looking forward to a crisp fall day full of football!

So I'm sure you get posts like this from time to time, and I'm SIAP..but what are the must do's on a Gameday in Ames?

Affordable auto shop rates

TL;DR version - I'm looking for a shop that will work on my land rover with parts i supply.

I have an LR3 with high miles and I need to install the filter conversion kit. I don't have a lift and while that's not neccessary, would make this much easier. I have purchased the parts already, I was hoping to find a shop that would make this change for me. Youtube video in the product page to explain more about it. These are sealed units that are nearly impossible to change, this kit makes it easier to access to and change.

Thanks for any suggestions. I'm guessing the name brand shops wouldn't touch this.

Weekend Upsets with WrestleStat - Week 2 2020

Holy smokes! What a weekend!

Since we've been running this site, I'm not sure we've ever had a weekend of upsets quite like this.

At the top of our list this week, #68 Aaron Bolo knocked off #2 Kyle Conel of Penn State. Watching the match, it definitely looked like Conel tweaked his knee in the 3rd period. Hope he's not out for an extended period of time. Also, in the Virginia Tech vs Ohio State dual, where Virginia Tech got the upset, #21 Brent Moore upset and pinned #2 Sammy Sasso. Also, #5 Mason Parris continues his impressive start to the season knocking off #3 Matt Stencel of Central Michigan. Parris is absolutely a force and has finalist written all over him.

UNI vs IOWA

Put this in the wbb thread instead of in states rival to maybe decrease the troll factor. Uni took them to the wood shed caught just the end of it on the radio. Seems that poor shooting doomed Iowa both three pt and FG% were in the 30's, FT % in the 50's. Hope the Hawks shoot like that when they visit Hilton.

If anyone saw the game please post your thoughts just thought I'd start it since we play both teams this yr.

Nov 17th Dual vs Bucknell

Anybody have any thoughts about the upcoming dual on Sunday?

Looks like Carr will have a good match at 157 (if he wrestles?) as Bucknell's Zach Hartman is a returning NCAA qualifier.

Bucknell has another returning qualifier at 197 in Drew Phipps (FYI-he was eliminated from the tournament last year by our own Willie Miklus). I'm assuming Shapiro will start over Duggan. Either way - will be a tough match up.

Expecting a relatively easy win for the team, but should be a good opening opponent.

What does everyone else think?
