Curtis Jones Signs Two-Way Deal with Denver

Former Iowa State star Curtis Jones is getting his NBA shot on a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Jones excelled with Denver in the NBA Summer League the last two weeks, leading the team in scoring with 14.6 points per game despite only playing the seventh most minutes per game on the team.

In the five games in Las Vegas, Jones averaged just under 15 points per game to go with 4.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 47% from three.

What is a two-way contract? Jones will be able to bounce between the Nuggets and their G-League affiliates, the Grand Rapids Gold. Two-way players can play up to 50 games in the NBA per season and aren’t eligible for the playoffs but are able to convert to a full deal at any point.

The last former Cyclone to be on a two-way contract for Denver was Monte Morris, who went on to play in Denver for five seasons.

Jones will get started in NBA training camp in late September.
