Iowa State freshman forward Cameron Lard was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia back in February, according to a report by the Ames Tribune‘s Travis Hines.

The charge stems from a Feb. 4 traffic stop for speeding, according to Hines’ report. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer making the stop smelled burnt marijuana prompting him to ask Lard if there were any illegal drugs in the car.

“Not that I know of,” Lard replied, according to the report.

Following a consent to search, the officer located a glass pipe with residue on it in the back passenger side door console. Lard was the only passenger in the vehicle and could reach the back seat, according to the report.

A jury trial is set for May 8 in Story County district court. Iowa State head coach Steve Prohm denied the Ames Tribune‘s request for comment.

Lard averaged 12.6 and 8.1 rebounds per game as a true freshman for the Cyclones in 2017-18. He started every game following the citation outside of the team’s senior night in which Prohm inserted all of the team’s seniors into the starting group.
