Incoming recruiting class brings championship experience

Iowa State’s 2023 recruiting class is rated above any other in program history.

They’re coming in with comparatively the most team success in their high school school careers.

Three of the four signees of the 2023 class capped off their seasons with runs to state championships, and the odd one out ended up being five-star Omaha Biliew’s Waukee team getting upset in the semifinal round.

In Wisconsin, four-star forward Milan Momcilovic helped his team to hoisting a trophy behind 29 points on 10-15 shooting, with nine rebounds and three assists in his school’s third title in a row.

Three-star guard Jelani Hamilton helped a loaded Wheeler High School roster in Georgia to its ninth championship in program history a week ago.

Hamilton put in 16 points while a pair of USC commits led the team in scoring during the game.

Meanwhile in Missouri this past weekend, Kayden Fish and his Staley High School team brought home their program’s first ever state championship win.

Fish finished with 11 points and six boards as Staley completed the year at 29-2 and got to celebrate at Great Southern Bank Arena.

The class is rated as the No. 9 class in the country by 247 Sports and will see each player in Ames over the summer to get prepped for the 2023-24 basketball season.
