RECRUITING: Iowa State offers a 2018 QB out of Arizona

Matt Campbell isn’t messing around when it comes to solidifying depth in his quarterback room for the future. Late last week, Iowa State’s head coach picked up the phone and offered Brock Purdy, a 6-foot-1, 197-pound gun-slinger out of Arizona.

According to the database at 247, Purdy has additional offers from Boise State, UCF, Kansas, Colorado State, and UNLV to name a few.

I am also hearing that a possible wrinkle in the Purdy recruitment is significant interest from Alabama, who has already given Purdy a visit.

Purdy was recently named Arizona’s High School Player of the Year.

Purdy, a dual-threat quarterback, threw for 4,405 yards and 57 (!!!) touchdowns as a senior, with only nine interceptions to his name. He also ran for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns.

What does this mean for Iowa State’s quarterback room? Well, nothing yet.

But it could mean increased competition and more depth at the most important position in sports. Iowa State already signed Re-al Mitchell, a California prospect who Campbell loves, in December. Devon Moore redshirted last year after suffering a bad leg injury in camp. Of course, sophomore Zeb Noland will be back and likely Kyle Kempt too.
