REPORT: Former Washington State coach added to ISU staff

It didn’t take Paul Rhoads long to fill the hole on his staff left by Mark Mangino’s parting with the program.

The Des Moines Register’s Randy Peterson reported Thursday afternoon that former Washington State head coach Paul Wulff has been added to the staff as a volunteer assistant for at least the rest of the season.

Newly-named offensive coordinator Todd Sturdy led Wulff’s offense at Washington State from 2008-2011, and before that at Eastern Washington in 2007.

It is not entirely clear what Wulff’s duties will be on the staff, but he spent last year as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at South Florida.

He also spent a couple seasons as an offensive assistant for the San Francisco 49ers after being fired from Washington State in 2011.

Iowa State will take on Texas Saturday night at 6 p.m. in Jack Trice Stadium in a contest that will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
