Rhoads was lowest paid coach in Big 12 last season

Paul Rhoads was the 59th highest paid head coach in college football last season and the lowest paid in the Big 12. That’s according to USA TODAY’s recent head coaching salaries database that was released on Thursday.

According to the report, Rhoads made $1,712,282 in 2013.

Big 12 head coaches pay in 2013

Mack Brown, Texas – $5,453,750

Bob Stoops, Oklahoma – $4,773,167

Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State – $3,450,000

Gary Patterson, TCU – $3,120,760

Bill Snyder, Kansas State – $2,803,000

Dana Holgorsen, West Virginia – $2,630,000

Charlie Weis, Kansas – $2,503,727

Art Briles, Baylor – $2,426,360

Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech – $1,855,300

Paul Rhoads, Iowa State – $1,712,282

Another interesting aspect of this specific database is that it allows you to show how every coaching staff (outside of the head coach) ranked in terms of pay. By comparison to Rhoads coming in at 59, Iowa State’s staff saw a jump at No. 45. Rhoads’ staff was paid $2,142,929 in 2013.

How does that stack up against the rest of the Big 12? Not bad, actually.

Big 12 staff pay in 2013

Texas – $4,111,000

Oklahoma – $3,436,200

Oklahoma State – $2,884,000

West Virginia – $2,733,000

Kansas State – $2,594,750

Texas Tech – $2,143,500

Iowa State – $2,142,929

Kansas – $2,126,000

Baylor – $483,994 (that number seems fishy)

TCU – Was not included in the database
