AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University announced today that it has reached an agreement with the Big 12 and Mountain West Conferences to switch the dates on a pair of Iowa State football games in the 2010 season. The Cyclones will open Big 12 play on Sept. 18 against Kansas State in Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium (it was originally on Oct. 9). Iowa State will host Utah on Oct. 9 (that game was originally set for Sept. 18) in Jack Trice Stadium. Kickoff times for both games will be set at a later date. “Kansas State University requested our assistance in helping them adjust their 2010 football schedule and we were able to do so by working out a change with the University of Utah that is beneficial to our football program,” said Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard. The Cyclones’ 12-game slate this fall features seven homes dates and the neutral site game against the Wildcats (K-State is the designated home team this season). It also includes eight schools that participated in bowl games following the 2009 season. School officials also announced that Iowa State will open its 2011 season on Thursday (Sept. 1) in Salt Lake City against Utah. 2010 Iowa State Schedule Sept. 2 – NORTHERN ILLINOIS Sept. 11 – at Iowa Sept. 18 – Kansas State* (Arrowhead Stadium/KC) Sept. 25 – NORTHERN IOWA Oct. 2 – TEXAS TECH* (F) Oct. 9 – UTAH Oct. 16 – at Oklahoma* Oct. 23 – at Texas* Oct. 30 – KANSAS* (H) Nov. 6 – NEBRASKA* Nov. 13 – at Colorado* Nov. 20 – MISSOURI* HOME GAMES IN CAPS *Big 12 Conference game F – Family Weekend H- Homecoming
