Unless it's for medical reasons, once you've played a minute in basketball your redshirt is gone.
Not as easy as it used to be.The thing is it's pretty easy to do the injury thing. Since Zion did have an injury he can basically say it was because of that. Same thing Naz did.
I think that a good outcome for him next year would to be a big wing that can fill Shayok’s role defensively and make 35-40% of his 3s on offense. I expect more of him as a soph than I did for Lewis.
He has no ball skills. He would have been a great candidate for a RS if he was willing and didn't need bodies early in the year. Lots of growth potential with him.Griffin is one out of 4 freshmen that is not playing in the conference games. He might still get some minutes Griffin if he fits in somehow. When he was out there he looked a little lost on defense at times. I don't know what kind of a scorer he was in HS, but his shot really looked pretty flat the games I saw him it. Without looking, I would guess that he didn't have a very good shooting percentage in the games he did get in.
Not as easy as it used to be.
They did it with Young and I think Iowa has a kid doing. it. It's actually pretty easy. It just boils down to the number of games you have played.
Both of those players hardly played any games. Zion played too many as has been covered. I'm not sure why you're still debating it.
IM actually not debating it. I am having a discussion on it. It's also funny that you question me debating it still while still debating it. Even though I was simply having a discussion about Medical redshirts.
Documentation of injuries is required. I didn't mean to imply that it wasn't straight-forward but you can't make things up.They did it with Young and I think Iowa has a kid doing. it. It's actually pretty easy. It just boils down to the number of games you have played.
What is your point with "discussing" it? He can't redshirt and can't medical redshirt. Let's bring up Pemsl and Young again.
Ok. then shut the hell up and go to a different thread if you don't want to. Im not asking you to discuss it. Everyone else is as well. So go post on a different thread about something else.
Shayok is a good comparison for him. Big, strong guy with guard skills.
Yeah, I’m not sure he had many guard skills yet. I guess I was thinking Shayok just from the size/switch ability perspective. We lose two guards with size next year in Shayok and Babb and would either have to play even smaller or go with two bigs. I’d think the arc problem on Zion’s 3s is fixable so I kind of envision him as a low usage spot up 3-pt shooter/hustle guy on offense. Guys who don’t play as freshman don’t have high success rates but I think Zion can buck that trend.
There is nothing to discuss in regards to a redshirt.
Like I said. Go to a different thread. We are going over redshirts, Zion, Last post had Ejim in it. Lot's of stuff. So go somewhere else.
I don't know - Lewis' shooting mechanics seemed better to me as a freshman than Griffin's (haven't studied them side-by-side but that's my impression). Lewis' issues seemed more mental than mechanical, in terms of his shot.I think that a good outcome for him next year would to be a big wing that can fill Shayok’s role defensively and make 35-40% of his 3s on offense. I expect more of him as a soph than I did for Lewis.
