Zion Griffin progress

I think he has the potential to be a poor mans Melvin Ejim. Like I said earlier in this thread, he's just buried on the depth chart, but I think he'll be a nice player for us next year.

Guy has some serious hops. On one of his dunks early in the year, I was actually shocked because I assumed a lay in based on where he caught it, but he just went straight up effortlessly and hammered it home. I think he's got a pretty high upside, and I think it will start to show next year.

We've got a lot of guys who would have played some serious minutes on some previous (and pretty salty) Iowa State teams who are just stuck at the back of the bench.

Zion has shown good energy when he's been in.

However, for the year 81% of his shots have been 3's. While I expect 3's to be a part of his offensive game, that seems way too high.

From my understanding Zion is very comparable to Ejim as a Frosh. Only difference is Ejim was forced to play on a bad team. Zion is able to develop behind better players. Zion also played the post in HS due to him being the biggest guy on the team. From what I read during his recruitment he didn't play a ton of AAU so wasn't able to develop a ton of wing experience. He will be a nice guy to have on the roster. It is a good thing to have guys that need time to develop and will be 4 year guys. Prohm has shown he can develop players.
