Funny, I remember those same guys (from Alford onward) requiring three, four, five screens just to scrape the defender off to get their shot off. That didn't seem like an "open court" to me.

Nope, that's the motion offense and what happens when you move without the ball...
I don't recall referencing Alford, but instead swing forwards like Randy Wittman, Tom Abernethy, even bigger forwards like Ted Kitchell. None were fast, but all could shoot. Then, shot fakes were effective. And yet, even Alford used those, just to get a defender to get in the air so he could draw a foul. Alford lived at the free throw line.

Sorry, I decided to make another point, and decided to bring back my old thread to do it.
In another thread titled "Different between win/loss: Lucca", a person named Tornado man said this:

You just have to know that Lucca has to learn to not stand around that three-point line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:biglaugh:
Now that we have other outside players and inside players that can all score Lucca appears to be getting more open looks and thus is able to create a rythm. However, he does stiff force it at times.
I hope he takes them when the open shot is available but doesn't force where there is no need.

He didn't HAVE to come back and help us out, he could have stayed in Germany.

wow...dumb thread. We played a Drake's ZONE defense and 3's are open in zone so you need shooters...Lucca is a shooter. He is doing his job at an extremely high level. I think any player who hits 10 three's in a game deserve praise!!! Great job Lucca!

OK, go ahead, bring up an old thread from a year ago. :smile:
I will point out that a lot can change in a year, and Staiger has definitely changed a lot. He has gotten rid of the "baby fat", and loots slimmer and more muscular.
When I posted this a year ago, he was somewhat of a 'bust' at the time. He was hot-and-cold from beyond the 3-point arc, and was usually very cold on the road. It was painful watching road games in which he would make miss after miss after miss from 3-point land, which would usually result in a rebound and a lay-in by the other team. He was also ineffective on the defensive side. So when he wasn't hitting the 3's, he had an overall negative affect on the team.
It is very much worth noting that this record of 10 three-point shots made is from a road game.

Yeah, I loved seeing him have a huge game but I had the same feeling as the OPer at the time of the first post.
