White Helmets!!

Why would recruits want to wear or like all yellow uniforms? Also why can't the athletic department distinguish the difference between yellow and gold. Iowa State colors are cardinal and gold not yellow.

I think it is the name of the color that is confusing you. While I agree that gold typically means metallic, in ISU's case it has a much longer tradition of being in the yellow spectrum than the gold. We only wore metallic gold for a short time in 50's and 60's. Even Jack Trice wore the yellow variety. Now, changing the tradition is another discussion but in ISU's case (for good or bad) gold has clearly usually meant yellow just as much as Cyclone has actually meant tornado (due to historical reasons) but no one thinks we should be an ocean storm.

We should probably just let the recruits decide what we'll wear on a game by game basis.

Hell, just add a white accent stripe to the jersey and pants and it would probably solve the issue.

Using part of that suggestion, here's my 2-minute badly-done photo-alt, adding white stripe to shoulders. I a little better, although the squished jersey numeral is difficult to alter (that'd have to be white, too) and pants stripes aren't visible in original photo.

I still don't think it's a good look, among combos available.

I don't think all gold is as good of a look as all white. I'd rather keep the cardinal helmets with the gold jerseys.

1. The browner darker gold. It's like trying to make a flashy uniform out of a SF 49s uniform lol.


2. Making our alternative helmets have an old logo on them. Unless you doing a throw back copy of a uniform, there is no reason to put any old logo on the helmet.

The helmet stripe looks fantastic and I think it helps tie into the jersey and pants.

Ummm because they're awesome! Duh! It's also one of the only ways we will get rid of that terrible helmet I-State logo. I like that logo just not on a helmet that is all red.

There's no reason for Okie State to put Pistol Pete on their alternate helmets except that it's fun and it's something different to talk about.

I would love it if we got a Tornado helmet like in CYCLNST8s signature. In Yellow, Gold, or Red. I'd also love to see walking cy in some fashion. That logo is classic.

This stuff all sell merchandise too. You know the athletic department wants that.

Reminder to the purists out there. Nothing is replacing I-State as the primary logo. But we can have a hell of a lot of fun and do some cool **** with what I think are very good secondary logos in the tornado and classic cy.

This...I'm one of the older guys on here I believe, and I'm somewhat of a purist. I like that Michigan, Alabama, Penn State, etc keep it 'old school', but I also realize that ISU isn't one of those powerhouse schools. I really like the idea of mixing it up here and there. Do I want to see stuff like Oregon throws out there sometimes? No, but if the players and recruits eat it up then why not do things to get more eyes on the program. There's nothing wrong with throwing Walking Cy or a tornado on a helmet once in a while.

I like the I state logo. I just wish we could get rid of the bevel on it. It just looks Microsoft paint like, make it look more traditional.

As a Bears fan I don't disagree too strongly but LSU and the Pack do alright with yellow. Part of me want to do lots of yellow...just ****ing OWN IT, you know?

Being a Chiefs fan as well I don't mind "yellow". The colors go better together. I love the "gold" basketball jerseys.

Saw these few pictures on Quran Hafiz's twitter page from the recruitment discussions...side-by-side of all three single color unis, look pretty good though I think the "filter" is making the all-yellow look better than the other photos:
