The recruiting gap by Fred in the end wasn’t great for us. Could have been worse if Naz hadn’t have had his med red shirt year which narrowed the worst of it to last year.

As for me on Fred, I think Ms Grande has it right: Thank you, next...

Personally I wouldn’t take Fred back even if there was an opening. He didn’t care for recruiting and he’d be returning to the same fishbowl that he despised.

I'm officially over this. Hopefully people can take the experience and just be more positive and supportive in the future, as you just never know how the story is going to end until it is written. Sit back, cheer your team, and hope for the best. And ENJOY IT.
You've been around enough to know that won't happen though.

No genius, it’s that your bias and hate for prohm is so strong that you think that he drew up the play to inbound the ball in the corner.

Ok, I have one last question then. If you asked Prohm about that awful series, do you think he would blame himself for putting Shayok in that position? Yes or no? I think you know the answer to that question.

I would hope a coach would always take the blame over throwing his player under the bus, not sure what that says though.

Reality is he’s not an elite sideline coach. However, he’s done a pretty good job here following a local legend, who really set the stage to fail by not recruiting for 2 full years. He’s had a lot of arrows slung his way from within the fan base itself. He’s unassuming, humble, bad at coach speak, and maybe a bit too honest with his assessments of game situations. But he’s maintained his dignity, won a bunch of big games, and reps the school and the program the right way. He respects the job he has, and the history of the place.

However, the most important reason I support him, the assistants, the players, is because he’s the coach at my school.

As an aside, John and Eric even mentioned imbalanced classes on the postgame show, but knew better than to continue down that rabbit hole.

To be completely honest, I am happy with assembling talent even if it ends up with bad set plays.

Yes, because it seems he sees his job external to the team is to shoulder all the blame and pass all the success. His answer to every question of “Do you think you should’ve” is always “Yea, probably”. He’s not agreeing with the question (there’s a good chance he’s having some sort of “bless your heart” conversation internally), he’s shouldering the responsibility for whatever didn’t go right during the game.

You aren't serious are you? The inbounds play where Shayok turned the ball over.

We were up 4 so Prohm assumed KSt was going to foul so he drew up a play to get Shayok the ball... Unfortunately he drew it up to so he could catch it in the worst possible place: . guarded by the sideline and the endline in the corner where 2 wildcats were waiting to trap. Shayok had no room to breathe. In addition, he should have POUNDED into his head that we had a TO left to burn. Instead, we turn it over giving KSt life. The next play down court Stokes takes a 3 and Jacobsen fouls him on a shot that almost goes in for a 4 pt play opportunity. Prohm should have been telling to stay off of them to prevent this exact scenario. We got soooooo lucky Stokes doesn't bury that 3 and only hit 2/3 FTs.

In regards to getting the ball in on the inbound..... Literally any conservative pass in works. Pass it back over half court to Shayok if you need to, but you need to keep it in the open so they can't trap. Ensuring everyone understands you have another TO to burn in case of an emergency. Ensuring everyone knows not to foul on a 3. A truly awful series that could have cost the game directly attributable to coaching boiled onto 5 seconds of game clock. A learning opportunity for sure, but awful.

You think these are the things Prohm wanted to happen?

My word.

Of course not. You are purposely ignoring how awful that series was. All I'm saying is I hope we have a better plan in that situation in the future.

The series was awful. It was close and ISU got lucky to get out of it with a win. It's that time of year when luck needs to be on your side. ISU was also lucky Wade didn't play like they were lucky Emiid didn't play 5 years ago.

And I think Prohm's in-game tactics aren't always great.

But I'm not going to believe that his plan was to have his player catch the ball in the corner, and to have MJ play close enough to foul the 3 point shot.

Of course he would. He’s never going to throw shade at a player.

But almost ever single play has options for players.

It is probably time to lock this thread since at this point it's just CF posters trying to dunk on other CF posters after our favorite team just won a Big 12 Tournament.

There's always a bigger picture.

Don't care if Prohm sucks or is the best thing ever. Don't care if it is Fred's fault. People disagree, we love the Cyclones and our players. Spend some time on a KU site and you will see the fighting on here is nothing compared to the way those fans degrade ALL of their players. Time for the tournament!!!!

I mean bad plays at the end of games happen, in college and in the NBA. Imagine that, even the highest paid, most gifted coaches and athletes screw up. Yes, I hope for something better next time, but ffs watch more hoops.
