When did this board start?

CF's one-year milestone...

On February 15th of 2006, I decided it was time for Cyclone faithful to have a place to call their own. It was time we had a place where there were no boundaries or divisions between us. It was time for a community where everybody could contribute in any way and at any time. The principle was simple, to help people realize that the days when we could afford to be a divided fan-base were over and that we now truly had to come together if we wanted to achieve any of our common goals.

The best way of fostering excitement and energy among the fans was simply to create a place where everybody could share ideas and opinions about Iowa State athletics and to give them a way to stay informed and interested throughout the year, regardless of the season. The result, CycloneFanatic.com.

When the site was first launched, there was a front-page and a basic forum, that's it. As the site exploded with popularity it became obvious that the fans had been waiting a long time for a place to call their own. As spring turned to summer, we transitioned platforms and systems to better accommodate the growing member-base and to allow for future feature enhancements.

Once the site was well established and we were on the systems that could accommodate it, we introduced quite a few new features over the remainder of the year... revamped forums, private messaging, chat rooms, calendars, buddy lists, user contributable photo galleries, a user blogging system, an online store, a cool and innovative 'auto-feed' system and most recently a test version of the upcoming classifieds and auction system.

Like other Cyclone fans, I was not happy with Cyclonereport and their holier than thou editor Paul Clark AND that you had to pay to get any real news...
CycloneFanatic KICKS THEIR ***... kind of like Royce White driving to the hoop and jamming one in KU's face and making Bill Self crap his pants and get that evil smirk on his face. Yes that is how CF works. This is how we do it.

BUT if you want to know when it all BEGAN you would need to create a time machine ala Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and tell your best friend what your favorite number is and then embark on the journey that every Cyclone fan must one day travel... Unfortunately you will have to re-live tragic unhappy McDermott and Chizik games but you would become one with the universe and come to appreciate all that is Cardinal and Gold.

you must decide... You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how Coach Hoiberg leads his team to the National Championship. Red Pill. Red Pill. Red Pill. Now you know why it is RED
That is all. Join us brother.

Either you're watching the Matrix, or we'd get along REALLY well.

I wondered about Jeremy just the other day. It is too bad we don't see him much anymore. He really took a professional interest in the board even when it was just a hobby.

Did we ever figure out if MonkeyBrow is dead or in jail?

I came over when I heard the Jeter rumor, and joined April 11, 2006. Here's my first CF shirt

I was a mod on CN. Wrote some articles for them, and was pretty sure I was the only one reading them. I think I got directed over here from a link there and its been a model of inefficiency in the workplace since that fateful day in March 2006.

Tomorrow is the CF Forum's 6 birthday. Realizing right now I probably first started checking the board when in the hospital with my first born.

I first started really checking right away because Jeremy first started with some recruiting info, and the Wayne thing went down and the site exploded. I lurked for a while because I was on Rivals confidential at the time. Hated how that board responded to the Wayne firing so I gave it up and came here full time. Man that's been 6 years ago. I used to post way more than I do now.

I'm seeing like March 2006. I was a longtime Rivals Confidential member and moved over here exclusively about a year ago. Who were some of the pioneers?

Better late than never. Rivals was the big reason us pioneers made the pilgrimage and didn't look back. March '06!

When I joined there was a list of user names in order of joining...can't seem to find that listing now.

The only thing I miss about the old site was reading posts from AJPennyPacker...that guy was the best! I still laugh thinking about his posts/comments!

Did AlanAldaClone from rivals make it up here? His posts were fun
