Have you had it? It tastes like really good beef.
yes, and no, it tastes like elk. If it tasted like beef, we would raise elk. Using meat knowledge, we can deduct that no high stress animal that has to fight to stay alive that is high in estrogen or testosterone is going to be as good as a domesticated animal. Lets take a bull elk. You have a say 4 year old bull that has his balls that has to roam around to eat grass and protect itself and is in a high stress situation when it dies.

You may like the taste better but using science and most everyones opinion, beef wins

Pork wins easily for me. Ham is my favorite meat. I don't like seasoning on meats, just serve it up plain. Not big on sauces either unless it's chicken or ground beef. I love pulled pork and ribs and bacon.

My top 5:
Beef ribeye
Halibut
Venison backstraps
Walleye
Bacon

Pork, shellfish, lamb. Of the options in the poll. Deer loin (back strap) is my favorite cut of meat, and I have a bunch marinating for he game on Saturday.

There isn't really bad meat though.

If you aren't pulling your pork (he he) off the grill at 145f you are doing it wrong. My home raised chops grilled to 145f are better then anything out there.

It's impossible to choose a favorite. I'm getting the Weber set up to roast a turkey this afternoon.

You can tell there's a lot of Iowa residents in this thread. "Pork is cheap". Yeah, try living in Michigan - pork is not cheap here and the selection in an average grocery store is not good.

I'm one of those that doesn't have a preference overall, but preferences in categories. I prefer steak to pork chops (although I love a good pork chop), pork ribs to beef ribs, ground beef to ground pork, pulled pork to pulled beef, roast beef to roast pork. Most nights I end up eating chicken because it's what my wife cooks and a 10-lb bag of frozen chicken breast is rather inexpensive. I love lamb, but I'm the only one in my family that will eat it so it's limited to about whenever I get a gyro. Love fish and shellfish, although I'm one of the few that thinks lobster is overrated.

Pork is my favorite by a mile. Yes, steaks are better than chops but bacon, sausage, loins, ribs, pulled pork are in my opinion better than the rest of the beef cuts. Brisket once in a while is very satisfying but can be very hit or miss.
