Hawks smoked Washington State this afternoon. Channel flipped in for a bit of it and just checked box after finishing yard work. Scored a lot of points in the paint but were brutal from three (12%) and from the line (57%) but still won by 30. This is not the high octane score 90 a game Caitlin Clark Hawks. They do look to play better defense. For all the talk of Lucy Olsen's scoring she also looks to be a pretty good defender.

Lot's of travel for them prior to our game in IC on the 11th. They go to Cancun to play Rhode Island and Big 12 team BYU. Than off to NY to play Tennessee. They'll have four P5 games under their belt before our game with WSU being their only one at Carver so they will be pretty seasoned by time of our game. This "should be" a great game for national TV.

Wow...Indiana is either a very weird team or Baylor isn't that good (or had a VERY off night). They've lost to Harvard and Butler, but beat Baylor and then get demolished by North Carolina by 30.

Kansas State lost to Duke today as well 73-62. KSU only shot ten three pointers and made two.

Ha, made me check the box score. You'd expect Lee to have more than 4 rebounds although she did score 16. And only 27 minutes for her seems a bit short for a game versus a ranked opponent. She only had three fouls but maybe she got them early and had to sit? I noticed no minutes from the 2nd Glenn sister, Brylee. Looked some and she is off this season. Not injured but "undisclosed" non basketball reason. She is redshirting. Started every game last year. An okay player, I've never been super impressed with the two sisters. Other than Sundell the whole team last year laid bricks from three.

League as a whole is not off to an impressive start in NC. Will be interesting to go look at NET once there are enough games under everyone's belt to mean anything.

Sidebar: Man, I wish there was a general Big 12 forum for WBB. Would be interesting to see some opposing fan base takes on their teams etc. The general WBB not-UConn forum on The Boneyard is okay but is very East coast centric. It took Iowa's Final Four runs for anyone to even talk Big Ten there let along Big 12.

There was lots of talk about her filling CC's role but they're very different players. Lucy is much better at penetrating and hitting mid-range jumpers off the dribble, and she's definitely a better defender. Obviously she's not pushing the ball or creating scoring opportunities with her passing like CC.

O'Grady has also been a big surprise IMO, she's been very good down low. But I agree this is not the same fast-paced scoring team it's been the past few years.

They also handled #25 and over-ranked Stanford quite easily. I don’t think they are very good, but they were missing their best player, I also don’t think Baylor was that strong.

On a semi related note Ball St, who beat Drake by 6 and is maybe the best mid-major in WBB, played UNC within 11.

Point being Drake & UNI are both good teams

I looked for the sister as well. Many things surprised me about the game. Game flow showed a close game with Duke slowly pulling ahead in the second half. Duke had five more treys and both teams shot crappy at the line.

Yeah a few maybe, but a Quick Look at her past stat lines told me she would never be a long range bomber and that she is not.

Opportunistic but still a bit streaky. What I didn’t expect was for her to be a plus defender and ridiculously automatic with that mid range 15 foot & in jumper.

It's now a defunct forum hence the was in my post. :( Most of people on there were from teams that aren't in the big 12 now anyway.
Yeah, it was active from around 1998-2012ish. Primary causes of its demise iirc:
  • Conference musical chairs took away fans from Nebraska (a pretty vibrant piece of the community), and to a lesser extent, Colorado. Missouri wasn't really represented, and A&M didn't have a lot of fans there either.
  • The ascension of Baylor to be consistently the top team in the conference caused Baylor fans (of which there were plenty) to be less active because it felt to them like everyone hated Baylor, and made fans of other teams less active because everything was less interesting and fun when Baylor kept winning.
At its peak, OU, UT, BU, Tech, NU, CU, KSU, ISU were all well-represented. I think Missouri was the only school it seemed like never had any fans there.

yeah got tough when CP dominated for OU then Griner for Baylor. Those 2 combined to kill the site because only those 2 won anything.

Best game that nobody can see today. Sooners and Duke in Las Vegas with no fans in the stands and nobody watching on Flo-hoop "tournament" TV. What a shame.

Are there protocols in place there?

Those 2 schools have semi decent travel groups. Think Duke mbb are there so fans could double dip.
