Well that sucks, just looked a little and found that. What a freak injury. They might sit her for a while, she's sort of the key to their season and if I were them I'd want to have her healed up.

Yeah, I know, selfishly. I want her to play tomorrow, because BYU isn’t great, but they’re capable of beating us without her. I can tell you that right now.

Fell off the raised floor and cut knee. Hoping she plays tomorrow. Looked way out of sync on offense w/out her.

And although our defense is multiple levels better than last year, our offense has been a bit choppy so far this year anyway. Pretty excited about the team but man did they struggle tonight.

39 points given up in quarters one, two and four but inexplicably gave up 23 in the third.

It’s a funny game basketball?!
BYU would be better if their last years freshman star, Kailey Woolston, hadn't elected to do her 18 month "mission" and miss this year and probably the next.

Other than senior rebounding beast Lauren Gustin, Woolston was their best player. Hit a crazy 47% from three.

I remember them giving LSU all they could handle at LSU in ncaa tournament. If a good chunk of that team is back we will be in a dogfight.
MTSU has 3 of 5 starters from last year's ncaa tournament team.
They also won 30 games last year, 28 the year before that, and 27 the year before that. They know how to win. Dismiss them at your own peril.

Forgot to look for the score till just now but Hawkeyes did beat the Big 12's BYU by 20 in Cancun Friday. No Lucy Olsen as she is out with those stitches to her knee. BYU is not looked at to be very good this season but still a good win for Hawks without their senior transfer star. They seem to be projecting she will be back versus Tennessee and for sure won't miss the Cy-Hawk game.

And Hawks, who haven't been shooting the three all that great (at least the few times I've watched) hit 11-23 vs BYU. Observation on Stuelke, she seems to have fixed her big free throw shooting weakness. Now at 72% as opposed to 63% last year and 46% as a freshman. 72% isn't great but better than average and good for a paint player.

So, still looking to be a big TV showdown on the 11th.

Hard to imagine Purdue…once a cream of the crop school …could let their program erode so fast
Bad hire and apathy will set in quickly. Especially in the new world NIL, how much money do you want to spend on programs that don't make money, with the A.D. facing more financial challenges when having to play players how much money will the A.D. put into nonrevenue sports.

@undersized posted in the season thread that the first NCAA NET ranks came. Repeating that here for discussion of other teams rankings.

Some early takes on teams that caught my eye.

#8 TCU. That's interesting. They did beat Notre Dame for a 2nd win over a ranked team but I totally missed that until looking just now. They play South Carolina on the 8th, that will be a big tell.

#31 My local Gophers. Probably not, that would be way high even if Mara Braun didn't break her foot.

Of interest: #29 Iowa #60 UNI #67 Middle Tenn #113 Drake

Some good games on tap this week. Good for me meaning good ranked team match-ups and teams of interest to ISU, either past or future opponents.

#4 Texas at #10 Notre Dame. Thursday 6 pm ESPN. Harmon/Booker versus Hannah Hidalgo. Will be tuning in if I don't forget!

#17 Iowa vs Tennessee. Saturday 6 pm FOX. Neutral court in NY versus receiving votes Tennessee. Good "scouting" viewing for Cyclone fans. Volunteers are just outside the Top 25 right now.

#2 UConn vs #22 Louisville. Saturday 8pm on FOX. Same venue as Hawkeye game.

#3 South Carolina at #9 TCU. Sunday 6 pm ESPN. At #17 now but Frogs will be up in polls after that ND win. SC demolished ISU, how will they do at Fort Worth?

** Edited to update rankings.

Geesh, we are currently 10th in Big 12 in the NET. Only one way to go from here (hopefully).

Yeah, it's early so a few clunkers in there hurt a lot. Be patient though, it's won't jump in any big increments, probably just gradually rise week by week as long as we avoid any bad loses.

New AP poll is out.

Of interest:
  • TCU, with two wins over ranked teams moves up to #9.
  • Iowa moves up to #17.
  • Kansas State drops 4 spots to #13
  • West Virginia drops 3 spots to #15
  • ISU falls 5 spots to #20
  • Baylor and Utah #35 and #36 based on votes received.
Big 12, only TCU moved up with the other three ranked teams all falling.

Not surprised and it is still too early in the season to know where teams really belong as far as ranking.

West Virginia played tough against Texas on Sunday. Lost 78-73, but had an opportunity to win towards the end of the game. Drama King Vic got a technical & it almost cost them the game.

Somebody here was sounding TCU alarms weeks ago, prior to them breaking into the rankings. They have a great coach and too much talent to ignore.

KSU drops based on a neutral court eleven point loss to top-ten ranked Duke - seems harsh.

I watched the second half of KSU vs Central Arkansas - when KSU is hitting on all cylinders they're very good. Ayoka Lee is so smooth and they were hitting three's last night - sophomore Tarryn Sides and Super Senior Serena Sundell (SSSS) couldn't miss.

On a fun note, Central Arkansas' nickname is the Sugar Bears. My 21 month-old grandson was in town for Thanksgiving and he is mesmerized by Winnie the Pooh - "Bears like honey and I'm a "pool bear". I need a Sugar Bears t-shirt...

I was at the football game Saturday night and I can't stop smiling - let's keep the football good times rolling and hope the mojo spreads to MBB and WBB.
