WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Yet the Big 12 Champ Baylor lost to two Big Ten teams. And those two teams (Michigan and Maryland) didn't even advance out of the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament. So believe whatever you need to to get through the season! :p

IMO the top 9-10 teams or so of the Big Ten are about on par with other conferences. It's the dungeon dwellers who are god awful this year, led by Illinois and Wisconsin in the NET 200's.
When losses happen does make a difference. And..the pros are the ones that agree with me (or I agree with them). They have the Big Ten as the number six conf38059DCC-F77F-4919-9FED-37A98DA14E5C.jpeg as shown.

IUPUI cruising into the Horizon League Tournament Finals tomorrow. Madison Wise has fit in so well with that team all year. Really hope IUPUI can get the win after not getting to play in the 2020 tournament that was canceled due to COVID, and then getting upset in the conference tournament finals last year. Thought Cyclone fans would be interested in this!

As a bonus for all you Iowa haters -- IUPUI is the team that embarrassed Iowa in the 4Q back in December. ;)

The like is for IUPUI and Maddie , you've always been civil so I won't drag ISR stuff in here.

Watched the game IUPUI jumped out to a big lead in the 1st qtr, then hit a cold speel and got out scored the next two but came back in the 4th to win. Maddie is one of the floor leaders who keeps the team in focus. Glad she gets a chance to go to the big dance.

Good game going on in Sioux Falls. Low scoring, but fun to watch! Each team has a win over the other during the regular season. Jackrabbits lead the country in 3 point shooting percentage.

ISU had a win in Brookings early in the season. Game is on ESPNU.

IUPUI did win 61-54, so Maddie gets one last trip to the NCAA tournament. I didn't watch the game, but she had 9 points 4 rebounds 3 assists in 32 minutes.
I watched most of the second half. Though it's only been a season, I'd forgotten what a great defensive player she is, especially when battling players larger than she is. She plays such a smart game, always in the right position.

IUPUI as a 12 seed is going to be some 5 seed's nightmare...

I will always remember Wise as a great defender at Iowa State. I cited that more than once when she was here. While in high school Madison was a big offensive threat. But, once Coach found she would fill our defensive needs, and excel at it, the dye was cast. She could score, but her thing was to be the "cover girl."

It’s funny you said that, because the ESPN camera guy rarely left her in the post game celebration! Once a cover girl always a cover girl.

In all seriousness, we see all these young women playing fifth and even sixth seasons for other teams (Indiana, KU, etc.). Would MW’s ability to play good D against larger opponents have been enough to beat Baylor or Texas? Probably not, but I wonder, what if?

Always liked Coach Littell. Had to be tough to be put in that difficult situation when he got the head coaching job.

They have no commits at all for 2022 and a roster of 16 that finished in 9th place. Even with a good season last year he's 38-52 in conference play over the last five seasons. New coach is going to have to encourage some to transfer or just graduate and move on or "coach-up" a whole slew of gals they didn't recruit and for several years. Anyway, no recruits to hang on to for next season, there aren't any. Seems like a lot of "nice guy but it's time" comments floating around.

UNI up 4 on Missouri state in a MVC tourney semifinal. If you advances there are ties on both teams to ISU staff. Carper's family has a Illinois State tie and of course Stephen Fennelly is an assistant with UNI.

Surprised but not surprised. Tough year for WVU not sure the fans are real happy with the past year and maybe he is not sure what he will have with those coming back.
