Verdict in Anthony Trial

This case is a good blueprint for anyone contemplating murder. As long as no one sees you do it and if you can keep the body hidden until it completely decomposes, you're golden.
Reasonable doubt has become shadow of a doubt.

I agree. I believe she did it, but the burden of proof is on the prosecutors. Having her walk the streets a free person (possible murderer) is better than having her executed on circumstancial evidence.
The only part of the trial I watched was the closing arguments from the defense. I came away from that with the feeling that she would be found not guilty, based on lack of concrete evidence.

This is the thing that bothers me-- everyone thinks she "did it." What exactly is it? Intentional murder? Accidental murder? Acessory to murder? Covering up an accidental death? In the court of public opinioin, she "did it" is enough, but in a court of law what exactly is the "it" people talk about?

Duct-taped the child's face and suffocated her.
That is, unless she tried to make the accident look like a murder. Which makes perfect sense. :pbaffled:

This isnt anything new, and its still reasonable doubt.

Sure, we're not going to get guilty verdicts for everyone that is guilty. But at the same time, anything we could do to correct that would likely result in more innocent spending time in jail.

I guess to me it makes just as much sense to try to cover up an accidental death by making it look like a murder (thus attempting to pass on culpability to someone else) as it does to kill your own child in order to go party when there are countless other avenues you could go down if you weren't ready to be a parent... but that's just me.

On the brighter side of things some lucky guy is going to get to have sex with her a week from tomorrow. Of that, I have no reasonable doubt.

Unless, of course, that lucky guy knocks her up. Then in a couple of years, he is down one kid.

Correct, and public and media completely villified her in part because they did not like the fact that a 25 year old was not a very good mother. The prosecution was banking(hoping) that they could get a conviction based on this, becaused they just didn`t have the evidence needed to meet the burden of proof for 1st degree murder. We will probably never know exactly what happened, but justice was served correctly here.

I'd have to agree with the media. Moms who kill their kids, party it up, lie about it and trump up some charges against thier parents are NOT good mothers. Maybe in Surinam, but not in America.

If you are making a statement about CA, then Prove it!......Or just continue to speculate, but speculation is not good enough when determing the fate of an American. If you are actually claiming that you know what happened based upon the evidence that was presented by the media, then you are much more intelligent than the 12 person jury who were actually presented with all of the evidence in the case. If you do make that claim, then it speaks volumes about you.....doesn`t it?

On a pretty much related note, I wonder what it feels like to literally get away with murder? I imagine you must feel like a mother****ing badass, no?

That became questionable when the Anthony family took the stand and stated that was pretty much how the family buried the family's pets when they died. Doesn't disprove the "accidental drowning" theory.

Jurors starting to come forward:

Tearful Anthony jurors ask prosecutors, where was the evidence? – This Just In - CNN.com Blogs

Sounds like they wanted to convict, but the evidence wasn't there.

The amazing thing was the pure joy that Casey Anthony and her defense team had at the conclusion of the case. Walking across the street in front of the media with cameras rolling, toasting champagne, jumping and dancing around, etc....

They must have forgotten why they were there and what caused this whole trial. A child is dead. Sure seems insulting to see these people celebrating... almost as if they are dancing on her grave. Totally dispicable.

Sounds like her mom might get charged with perjury for all of the lies she spewed on the witness stand.

Interesting comments from the prosecutor last night about her brother's testimony as well. They said he was a great witness, provided them with great information, great details about the case, and was very specific. Then they get him on the witness stand to question him and he is acting like he doesn't know any of the things he told them before. They had to prompt him, they had to remind him of almost every single detail he had previously told them. Then he gets on the stand for the defense and he snaps right back out of that mode and goes right back to remembering every last detail about certain things that aren't damaging to Casey. The prosecutor said that was the biggest surprise of the entire trial. Her brother totally screwed them.

One of the biggest mistakes the prosecution made in this case was portraying the Anthony family as this typical, happy Floridian family where, through ho fault of the family's, Casey somehow became screwed up in the head. Just about anyone who knows that family and has been interviewed says that is the furthest thing from the truth - that entire family is entirely ****ed up. So ****ed up that perhaps all of Casey's claims against the family, including her mom being a liar and her dad being a child molester, although impertinent, are true.

Yeah... It is hard to imagine that her family is some kind of happy family with no issues to speak of. That doesn't really mesh with the fact that she is a compulsive liar, a slut, and a murderer. Sure... this could be an exception to the rule as there are always some of those but it is highly unlikely.

Only from your perspective. In their eyes, the despicable thing would have been a guilty verdict. Why not celebrate? In their view, justice was done. The defense's job was not to mourn Caylee or to find her killer. It was only to make sure that Casey didn't get convicted of murder. They did that. They prevented an "innocent" woman from getting a murder conviction.

A Freudian slip??

I liked the prosecutor's take on it. He was asked about it and pretty much said that he wouldn't ever do that. He said some people have different ideas about prefessionalism and obviously that was theirs.

Oh... and I am pretty sure that her defense team wasn't the first or the last group of defense lawyers that have won a trial knowing with 100% certainty that their client was without question guilty of the crimes they were charged with.

Nice try, but I am not buying it for one minute. How about a 25 year old woman that has been in jail for over 3 years, and was finally cleared of a charge that was threatening to take her life. Thank goodness the jury got it right based upon the evidence presented.

like I said before, it's a matter of perspective. One man's travesty is another man's triumph.
