unbelievable watch this

Not true. Adolescents are insolent and defiant every single day in every single city in this country. Administrators and authority figures are called down to classrooms to deal with disruptive students all the time. Do you think she is the first student to refuse to leave a classroom when ordered to by a teacher? or refuse to give up a cell phone? I guarantee you she's not. How come all of those other incidents don't end up on the news. The reason this is in the news is because of the cop's excessive force. If he hadn't thrown her across the room, this would not be on the news. If he would have just taken her to the ground, and restrained her, this would not be the story it is. The cop's excessive display of force is what makes this news.

I don't disagree with you. My point was simply that everyone single one of these stories could have easily been avoided. Why put yourself subject to the discretion of an officers quick decision making ability? Just cooperate, you'll get your chance in court if it's actually something that matters. Officer's force was definitely excessive. I'm also not in a position to have a legitimite opinion on what his punishment should be, but I think suspension would be minimum.

Is it? In my years of high school and college I never once saw a student refuse to give up a phone. Humor me with the argument that this girl's action is normal.

It's conjecture because you nor anyone else knows what happens if that girl gives up her phone. You can speculate, you can say one scenario is more likely than another, but you can't KNOW.

You obviously aren't one of those people, but there are plenty that think that the officer was completely justified and did nothing wrong. Now maybe there are some that I haven't seen, but regardless the opinion that the kid did nothing wrong is much less prevalent if not non existent. That's the problem. It is essentially 100% across the board agreed on that the kid in this case or victims in other cases did stuff they shouldn't have that led to the events happening. There isn't that much agreement that what the officers do in these situations is wrong.

Understand that is why people get mad or frustrated with what you said.

See, that's where I think the problem is. This doesn't scare kids these days like it did when I was a kid.
The parents are the problem. If the school calls them they're mad at the school for making them come down and they go off on the school. If a teacher does try to remove the kid the parents go off on the school for that. They don't address the kid who's the problem. They're mad at losing the school as their babysitter because they were to lazy to raise their kid correctly.

speaking of gofundme campaign, this line in the article made me laugh:

the female student, who has not been identified, only suffered a rug burn, although her attorney said on ABC's "Good Morning America" that she "has a cast on her arm, she has neck and back injuries."

Seems really simple. When the cop says jump, you jump. No need to argue on the spot. There's a court system where you can proclaim your innocence.

And when he says get on that railroad car, you jump. :realmad: Disgusting. The video was not as bad as I expected but still disturbing. Don't even question the state or they are right to flip you around like some fish they caught on the line. And people wonder why I won't be sending my kids to these places.

so the officer initiated contact? from Janny's article.

A "third video" reviewed by police for the internal investigation shows the girl swinging at the officer's head after he puts his hands on her, Lott said.
The girl was arrested along with a second student who police say was also "contributing to the chaos." That student, later identified as 18-year-old Niya Kenny, told NBC News on Tuesday that she witnessed the officer put his arm around her classmate's neck, and that's when she fought back.

The brat of kid, while I believe she was wronged, will get paid because this copper wasn't able to keep his professionalism.

Well this is stupid, its obviously a school that needs a SRO for a reason. This idiot student disobeys the teacher and then an officer too? The student obviously wouldn't get up so what is the officer supposed to do? Obviously everyone on CF would have handled this the "correct way an officer should" please.....

and this is what is wrong with this country and its children. Conjecture, are you serious. People seem to have a problem dealing with the actual problem these days. Its common sense that if the girl gave up the phone and listened to the authority figures none of this would have happened. She didn't so she got put in check. Nothing hurt on the girl except her stubborn pride which is what got her in the situation in the first place. Conjecture? smh

Please.......a teacher asks you to put away your phone, an administrator asks you to put away your phone, and now they have to call a cop to get this done! Put away your phone.....it's pretty simple. Why do you have it out in the first place? Your just like that moron I get behind in the grocery line that can't put their phone down long enough to pay for their groceries. What is wrong with people now a days?

Whoever is making it ok for kids to grow up thinking they don't have to listen to authority is a majority of the problem and bad cops is another portion.

So when will the article about the students punishment come out with her having her phone out during class?

whoever is making it ok to use force on kids when there isn't a threatening situation is the majority of the problem.

Cop was fired for a reason .... he is a horrible cop and fails at the most basic tasks of serving and protecting. I suspect the student will be suspended. and that brat of a kid will get a payday thanks to cops who clearly abuse.

So when will the article about the students punishment come out with her having her phone out during class?

What do you mean? Nearly every article on the incident talks about how she was arrested. She will be prosecuted, and if it's determined that she broke the law, she'll be punished, and deservedly so.

glad you are concerned with that.... I expect the student to be expelled or suspended.

I hope that is the case and that doesn't get lost because of the officer. But part of me thinks that the school will let her off the hook so they don't get more bad media attention.

So your solution is let the kid continue to disobey not only the teacher and law enforcement while other kids are in the room so they can see they can do the same. The student wasn't getting up and wasn't giving up the phone. What would you do? I would have drug her out by her chair probably and I do agree the cop took it too far but whats the best route here then....
