unbelievable watch this

That is why they need to swap out the SRO's more often to give them a break. I would probably snap too if I had to put up with entitled, Brat kids all day. Not saying its right, but I could see me snapping like that.

That being said...you can't do that. and you have to know everyone has a camera these days. I think the dude had charges for excessive force dropped against him as a cop which makes me wonder were his head is at. Thats the last place someone with anger issues needs to be..lol.

I love how people can't see the forest for the trees. Yes, fire this dude immediately. But:

What does the teacher do? Nothing, but call a cop to deal with a student that is sitting in her desk. Wtf?
Seems to me that if you treat kids like criminals they'll begin to act like them.
As someone who didn't have cops in his school growing up I just don't get this. If you truly do have criminals in your school they should be removed from your school.

Wait until this guys attorney throws out the "he felt threatened" narrative.

I know there is a "cop vs people" tension out there and I know plenty of cops that are in very tough situations and short videos out of context can be deceiving...but in this video, it's clear dude went from 0-60 VERY quick in terms of asserting his power.

The story said a third video was posted last night on instagram showing her hitting the cop before he pulled her from the desk, that may explain why he yanked her out vs. just picking up the desk and removing her that way as it didn't seem like she was going to go willingly.

I see nothing wrong with what was done... If a punk kid isn't going to be respectful in class, then let him have it, otherwise why would he think he has to respect anybody. Back when I was in school we didn't need cops in schools because the teachers handled it instead of them worried about being sued or fired because they laid a hand on some kid disrupting their class. Keep being soft on the kids and this won't go anywhere but a lot worse..

If the part said this is true, then the student got what they deserved.
"A third video of the incident surfaced on Instagram. It shows the student throwing punches at the officer as he tries to remove her from her desk chair. "

As usual you don't see what lead up to the incident. We have no idea how long this went on before it escalated to this.
These kids are obviously older but when I was in grade school all the teachers had to do was say they were getting Mr. O'Neil. You straightened right up if you knew what was good for you.

Teachers are told not to ever physically restrain or remove a kid from a classroom, so I don't think the teacher did anything wrong by calling the SRO. I personally would have removed all the other kids from the classroom before the SRO got there, for safety reasons, and so **** doesn't make it to twitter/instagram in 8 second chunks.

I would like to see more than 15 seconds of video. That being said. If you don't want cops doing cop things in your school then don't put cops in schools. If the officer was called there and the student refused to leave what was he supposed to do? Ask again but this time say pretty please? Passive resistance is still resistance.

Same ol' same ol'. More times than not these videos show only part of what happened. Many rush to judgement then the story falls apart.

I agree with needing more video. If the SRO was called down there it must have had a something go on and we didn't get to see it. I am guessing there was at least 10+ mins of the kid doing something. Probably never know though.

Yeah, but I don't see a Principal or a Dean of Students here. If the first disciplinary action is to call a cop you're already ****ed as a school.

I don't agree with this. We had a cop in our highschool in 2000. The cop didn't act someone who was trying to enforce any laws. After school people would speed out of that parking lot like bat out of hell but he didn't focus on every little law infraction and focused on the greater good of the students. Looking back he did a great job getting to know the student body so if you approached him you felt like you were a approaching a person you knew, not a uniform. He also helped teach a criminal justice class.
