It's a weird comparison, but there are plenty of people that don't like Caitlin Clark also, just like there are people that like and don't like Tyrese.
Sorry, but you can watch a very short video that shows the game winner and then Papa Haliburton immediately get in Giannis's face. It was clearly instigated by Tyrese's dad immediately after the game.
I'm no fan of the Bucks or their fans and love Tyrese but the problem first and foremost is on Tyrese's dad. To their credit both Tyrese and his dad have taken responsibilty and publicly apologized for it.

I defintely started with Tyrese's dad. Of course Giannis waited until Connaughton came over and then acted like he wanted to go after him, then proceeded to find him again later and get in his face and go forehead to forehead with him. Then specifically sought out and tried to big brother Mathurin.
I just think it's stupid to act like Giannis is 100% blameless. This isnt even much of story if the second interaction doesn't happen which was fully Giannis' choice to go to the corner of the court to contront Haliburton's dad.
Giannis acted like a fool when it came to the other team, but as far as the deal with Tyrese's dad only one of them should have been on the court at all. Fans being on the court, especially if they're just talking ****, is just not ok.
I never said nor implied that he was 100% blameless. I was responding to a post that implied that Giannis started it when it was instigated by the Pacer's #1 fan.

Tyrese isn't even from Iowa, had a record of 33-35(14-22), was on the court for ISU from November of 2018 until February of 2020, never won an Ncaa tournament game, and has never won an NBA championship either.
Is he a very good NBA player? Yes, probably up there with Tinsley as the best that ever played at ISU, but that doesn't make him the Golden Boy of Iowa St like CC is at Iowa. Imo guys like George's and Monte are alot more indicative of Cyclone basketball.

- I said I thought it was great Tyrese immediately (about 10 minutes after it happened) said his dad was in the wrong, then later his dad said the right thing.
- Giannis was acting like a total punk independent of this incident and lucky he didn't start a brawl, he tried to fight multiple other Pacers while Tyrese was smiling for the TNT post game interview. He said nice things toward Tyrese but I'm not sure he or Porter apologized for acting like lunatics immediately after the loss.
- The way Porter was acting was identical to behavior that starts an arena wide brawl, he was going nuts.
- Im quite sure I have as much context as anybody. I watched every minute of this series, every minute of last year's series, every minute of Bucks losing to Pacers in the mid season tournament last year which was the genesis of these Bucks crying about losing to Indy. I listen to all the post game interviews. I usually listen to an hour of the post game radio just like I listen to Walters and Heft. The Bucks are punks and crybabies, they just are. I also don't like the Knicks (just habit over 40 years of being an NBA fan) but they didn't act like this when the Pacers knocked them out last year or really any time in that intense series.
- Bucks fans chanting "overrated" hundreds of times any time Tyrese touched the ball (no exaggeration) is the greatest story of karma you'll see smacking sports fans in the face and if someone can't love that they aren't really enjoying sports. The fact that i LOVE that doesn't mean I think Tyrese's dad made a great choice, I agree with Tyrese it was wrong and he needs to change.

CC got coverage for her play and scoring but rarely was there anything said about several things that she did that would get her called for fouls, T'd up and/or kicked out of games if the refs weren't afraid to do it.
I'm not comparing that to Hali fwiw. He was really good at ISU but we never saw him peak, just saw the potential and iirc he wasn't really a big name nationally.
Imo his dad could do with not being allowed to attend a game or two.
Approaching a pro athlete like that after such a loss is some pretty serious FAFO-ness.

It's whatever though at this point. Not a good look for anyone involved in the post game drama IMO. On to the Cavs while the Bucks get set for what will surely be a very interesting offseason.
He’s way better than tinsley ever was in the NBA.
Hornacek playing NEARLY TWENTY full healthy seasons always at a stat line of a fringe all star, usually just below, had me thinking no Cyclone would ever catch any of his numbers, but Georges caught him in made 3s (sign of how different the game is now) and Tyrese has a chance to catch him in all sorts.
I'd say we're already to the point where evaluating "highest highs" Tyrese is the greatest Cyclone in the NBA ever.
I think Tyrese's situation is more analogous to Brock Purdy. The guy has the highest career QB rating of any active NFL QB and idiots still say he's overrated.

In his minutes played Pacers offense is #1 in league and in his minutes not playing they are last. I'm not sure it gets more clear than that. Joker is the best playmaker in the sport (maybe ever) but Tyrese is pretty clearly the best pure playmaking point guard in the game in terms of running an offense.
He will always be a weak defender when he gets pulled into the paint but his perimeter defense took a massive step forward this year, the Pacers whole team really took a step forward on defense. He had three blocks and three steals last night, one of the steals and one of the blocks were just as big in his Q4/OT as the several game winning shots.
