TX fires Herman

If Texas or Michigan got an elite coach they would be in the Alabama or Ohio State talk. The best talent in the country needs a coach that can change a culture of the program and get those 5 stars to play together. Alabama had a lot of old National Titles. If Saban went to Texas in 2007 where would Alabama be right now?
What few college football fans there are in the Seattle area really liked Sark FWIW. I sat next to a UW grad and huge Husky fan, and he was really upset when Sark left. The media out here was pretty surprised too. Certainly some of that was the fact that he left for USC, but he was well liked at U Dub.
Option 1: Booster pushed this to do something for the sake of doing something, long-term strategy be damned.
Option 2: There was one or more off the field incidents with Herman.
So, basically this is like Nebraska pushing Pelini out after failing to win championships and being a **** or it’s like Nebraska pushing Solich out for not winning championships and some (rumored) off the field issues.
Either way, there’s zero reason Texas shouldn’t have nearly every coach falling over themselves to get this gig. Yet, that’s not the case. That can only mean there’s huge issues with the people behind the scenes, there’s simply no other explanation.

I can only imagine how insufferable the boosters and big donors are at Texas. Im picturing a bunch of drunk, racist Foghorn Leghorns.

You have my vote of confidence as a poster.
Im kind of in this group too. The donors are a good boys club and they want to be treated as such. They don’t want to get blown off or talked down to. Two things I’m sure Herman would do to these people. Herman is someone who doesn’t fit with that group and probably things he’s above them. That is not a good fit. Mac Brown was able to play that game and act like he belonged with the good boys club.
Andy Staples had a good story in the Athletic when the first grumbling started. That situation is kind of a mess

I’m trying to figure out the rationale for this. At this point, I don’t think they’re going to manage to flip back their legacy OL kids who already signed LOI’s with Bama.
A&M‘s success is driving them crazy.
I say the same thing on draft day about being an NFL GM. I watch ISU, highlights of other games, ignore the combine, and make just as good of personnel decisions.

A&M hasn't been that successful, though. Largely because they're in the same division as Alabama, and yes, more successful than Texas, but not to the point where you look in their direction and ask why they're not doing that.
