It may have been discussed in the Gameday thread, but I just wanted to give credit to Tampa. He is really starting to stand out. Covers receivers tight with his speed, height and vertical. And plays really smart! You could tell he purposely stuck in his hand to poke that ball out at the goal line. Great instincts! Not enough to just get the stop, but go for the fumble. SO glad he's a Cyclone!!!

He's really coming into his own. He also had the deflection over the middle late in the first half to force the interception that Reeder came down with. I will say though, our DB's have really yet to be tested. In the SEMO game our coverage was so soft that it didn't allow us to see too much, and Iowa's passing game is the worst in the nation (along with their entire WR core at the moment). I'm very excited to see how him and Purchase do this weekend against a decent passing offense. I think we may be due for a defensive TD in this game.

Bruns gave his player of the game to Downing but really talked about Tampa in his podcast. Some great insight.

He also had that fantastic play to force the INT that Reeder came up with.

He is playing well, excited for his future.

The one thing that will be interesting to watch as who he and Purchase and Potter handle competent passing attacks, which I"m not entirely certain we've seen yet and Ohio will be a step up. They are currently 62nd in the nation in passing offense ( not elite but certainly far better than our last opponents) and they have actually not yet thrown an interception - 4 touchdowns to zero INT's, which is actually impressive given that Penn State has two very high end corners and have thrown it about 74 attempts thru 2 games.

So this week would appear to be the biggest test of the season and a good intro into the Big 12

Wasn't he the player who punched the ball out to force the fumble on the goal line?

Happy for him, his family seems all in on ISU as well which is great.

Yes; even though various media outlets have been incorrectly crediting Vance or someone else. Play of the game in my opinion. It set up the 99 yard March to Glory.

Coach Broom doing a great job with the young guys.
Also agreed. I've always thought that Rasheed or Veidt would be the next DC when Heacock retires, but I think Broomy's got a lot of potential on that front.

Having a young ISU alum rising the coaching ranks is a really, really good thing for the future of our program.

He's a great athlete; there is a reason Georgia tried to flip him. Its nice to see the game coming together for him.

It was curious to me that they showed the replay of that play several times but never mentioned the guy who made the play possible for Reeder in the first place. There were a time or two more where he had fantastic coverage but it was almost like they couldn't find his name on the roster. But BTN, what do you expect.

Honestly I didn't mind the crew for the most part. I expected some big 10 bias and we got that, but the former hawkeye offered some good insight into Petras and his continued struggles to throw the out route.

Yeah, I thought the former Hawk announcer was pretty fair (for a former player).
