Tim Floyd looks the exact same now as he did in 1996. It's borderline amazing.
It has always been my contention that Tim's success at ISU had a great deal to do with Dr. Tom's dismissal at Iowa.
Floyd had the Cyclones in post season play very quickly with a team that was picked to finish last, and I think the powers that be at Iowa thought that if a coach could get it done in short fashion at ISU, then Davis must not be doing his job!
I always liked Dr. Tom, and thought he was ran out of Iowa City. Unfortunately, as we all know, when Chicago came calling, Tim couldn't say no.
Had Tim stayed, there is no doubt in my mind that Raef and Kirk would have been Cyclones.
Just my opinion of course.
Speaking of Tim Floyd. Does anybody else think he looks a little like Harrison Ford???

TF should have never left Ames.
Thank you for catching this.Actually, Raef was in the HS class of 94. Tim lost Raef to Roy Williams, but he would have had Hinrich and possibly Collison had he stayed.

Thank you for catching this.
I realized, later, the mistake I had made, went back and edited it, and then found afterwards you had caught me anyway!!
I think Collison comes too, after Davis was made a "lame duck."
Go Cyclones
I don't think Davis had anything to do with Collison. Correct me if I'm wrong, but both Heinrich and Collison were verbally committed to Floyd and decided to go to KU when he left. Sounds like it was a pretty simple chain of events that led them there.
OK, I will. Heinrich was, but Collison was not. UofI fans will say they had a chance, but I think he was KU all the way.
I don't mean to knock the current staff when I say this, but I sure wish he was still at ISU.

Get off my plane.
Tim is a nice guy. He is a very solid college coach.
However, he has NEVER taken any college team he has coached past the Sweet 16 round. We have had two coaches at ISU in modern times that have taken ISU to the Sweet 16 and have also coached teams deeper into the tournament (LE coached ISU to the Elite 8 and JO coached Michigan to the National Championship game). Again, Floyd has never gotten any of his teams past the Sweet 16.
Lastly, Floyd is having major trouble with the new APR. This is probably really not a surprise to anyone that follows his methods but it is the reality he now faces at USC. As you can read in the attached article, "Southern California was warned that sustained underperformance would put them on track to being banned from future postseason play"...they were the only MBB program to get such a warning.
