It's all theory of their understanding of blackholes.

But isn't a black hole pretty much a theory as well? They've never found one, have they?

I've heard they think they've found one, but can't really prove it.

I've heard they think they've found one, but can't really prove it.

'Found' is a relative term in this case. A black hole bends light around itself so where one might claim to 'see' a black hole isn't where the hole would be anyway.

But yes all understanding of black holes is theoretical

They can only prove they exist due to the fact that light seems to bend towards where they exist, and matter is seen being pulled towards unseen objects.

Super Massive Blackholes are my favorites. Supposedly they exist in the center of most galaxies, and they've tracked stars as they revolve around it. They've also been known to give off gamma ray blasts, which are also quite interesting.
