I didn't say ISU doesn't get enough for its third tier rights. Just saying there is an excellent opportunity to expand those rights with Yahoo Sports, thus expanding brand recognition. Streaming TV is steadily gaining market share, and the "little eight" would be remiss if they didn't take advantage. The eight remaining schools, as a package, could get a lucrative deal IMO. Bring in three more schools like WVU(?), Louisville, TCU, etc., and that package deal could get bigger. Let UT have LHN as an ESPN network. Cable may be giving way to internet TV, so having an online network in place could give the rest of the conference big leverage countering UT's political power.

I can't remember exactly where I heard Pollard comment on this but he mentioned the web being the future for things of this nature shortly after K State launched their website to broadcast third tier rights. And I completely agree.

Won't ever argue with people on tough times. I don't think that is the majority of our so called fan base. We are notorius (Sp?) for not showing up in November because its too cold. I get the October thing. Harvest. But once crop out, no excuses! We will never be a unified fan base until we consistantly pack the jack, buy the $20 Clone Zone and get into it.

We have been presented with an opportunity with a window. (5yrs...whatever) NOW is the time

Yeah, the November attendance is horrible, and that is when some of the biggest games are. I think things are looking up though. I mean, we are making some headway in a bad economy, I just hate to jump on people when times are tough for many. I think people should do what they can, and I'm not saying you are attacking those people, but I've seen it too often on here.

BTW, your last words made me want to go to YouTube and listen to Miles Davis' rendition of Charlie Parker's jazz standard Now's the Time.

We are not hawkeyes. As has been pointed out, most of our fanbase went to school at ISU. We have far better socioeconomic standards than most fanbases in my estimation.

No problem. I just personally feel that we (ISU) have had another stay of execution ( I know, powerful words)(this is our second time around). So with that opportunity, we need to quit being a fan base of half empty to half full.

Meaning, we have an opportunity to stand up and be counted.

My comment wasn't aimed at you. I just can't help wondering if some complaining about LHN, aren't paying for CZ.

and with the current structure of the big 12 (planing games later in the season) the November/early December games are going to be even more important

I like the idea of the tier 1's being renegotiated sooner than latter (at least per Chip Brown). I also like the idea of getting all our B12 agreements inked in BLOOD. I like the idea of getting rid of Beebe.

I LOVE the yahoo web based b12 stuff!! I dont have cable and I would love to access it anywhere. LETS DO THIS!

Big 12 poised to replace Beebe - CBSSports.com

The Big 12 is poised to replace commissioner Dan Beebe with former Big Eight commissioner Chuck Neinas, CBSSports.com has learned.

One highly placed source said the conference was moving quickly to replace Beebe who had been under fire from some conference members after recent instability within the league. Neinas, currently a well-known college consultant, is expected to be named interim commissioner.

The official word could come as soon as Thursday when the Big 12 presidents meet by conference call to discuss how to move forward. Based on the news of Wednesday, the embattled league apparently will continue with nine schools while seeking additional members.

The Tulsa World reported Wednesday that the Big 12 had "targeted" Neinas, one of the most respected college figures in the country. Neinas was the assistant executive director of the NCAA from 1961-1971 and Big Eight commissioner from 1971-1980. He currently runs Neinas Sports Services.

Oklahoma and Texas are seemingly in the Big 12 fold after flirting with the Pac-12 for what seems like forever. Essentially, the Big 12 has taken a trip around the world the last few weeks and ended up in the exact same place -- without Texas A&M.

I vow to buy two brats instead of one next game. I am throwing out a challenge for others to step up.
That's it? No soda, walking taco or cheesy tots? How about a funnel cake or two? JT stadium needs that south endzone bowled in... :jimlad:

Seriously though, I'm in. Bought food at the stadium both games and likely will for this one as well. Don't forget to buy a program, with the bonus feature of it showing ISU as 3 and 0!

"Fake Dan Beebe" can stay...he's good for comedy relief at least...

I'm gonna call out all the "fair weather fans" here. I helped park cars in the rain for the UNI game for 6 hours changed clothes in our van and tailgated for 3 hours. I've been to every home game the last 10 years. The cold, wind, snow, rain, tornado sleet. My motto has always been "Win or lose, we still booze!!". It kills me to see all the empty seats in November. I've sat in the same seat for the last 5 years and you know who the fair weather fans are. We just set a record for season tickets this. We everyone to show every home game all season. I've been ALL IN since I was in school here in 1985 and when I moved back here in 91!

How Yahoo Sports Became ESPN's Biggest Competitor : Outkick The Coverage

The blog more than hints at what I talked about. The "little eight" should jump on this opportunity ASAP for a Big12 net.

I'm still confused on what rights ISU has chose to keep and what they sold to Leerfield. Anybody know what Leerfield owns and what ISU has kept?

Remember that article from last Monday in the RAG that said ISU gets $4mil a year from Leerfield...Would ISU have to pay the penalty to get out of that to give rights to YAHOO sports?

Action? I say pay the commish his due from the contract and bid him good day. Back in Neinas' day in the Big 8 they had tradition that wasn't second to many other conferences. A bit before my time, but I think he can oversee getting things patched while they work on a permanent commish, bylaw changes and getting some more members.
