*****The Super, Mega, Huge Big 12 Expansion Thread*****

What jerks. Why weren't they doing this two freaking months ago? Why do this in the middle of the season.

They are gone. Their guy is resigning from the Big12

This is the only thing that's frustrating to me about their decision. I don't blame them for wanting to look around while they have the chance, but why didn't they do it 2 months ago... Maybe GG, JP, and the others just couldn't convince them to stay quiet anymore.

We can invite all we want, but a team isn't going to leave and come join us until we know who is here and who is not.

Either WVU is going to the SEC or Mizzou is. Talk to the other big east teams, and let WVU know that if the SEC takes Mizzou, we have a spot waiting for them. Bring in 3 other BE teams or 2 BE and BYU, and wait to see what Mizzou does.

Yup. Tell BYU, Louisville, and Cincy to come on down. To tell WVU that if Mizzou takes their spot in the SEC, we have their back. If Mizzou stays, WVU goes SEC.

Pretty simple, and honestly, not a huge deal either way.

As someone said earlier today, it was likely that they would make no decision other than to give Deaton authority to decide conference affiliation. That's exactly what they did.

Definitely plausible, but nobody is going to make the move until Missouri has their decision... So as I said, we aren't adding teams until we know whether or not Missouri is staying or leaving.

In the words of Norm from Cheers... Its a dog-eat-dog world and the B12 is wearing MilkBone underwear.

I freakin' hate each and every one of you... Nebraska, A&M, Oklahoma and Mizzou! I hope you all get hammered with NCAA violations and die a slow and lingering death!

I want this to be over. Just tell us who is in our conference so we can get on with it. I want my life back you damn monster thread!!

Why would Deaton resign if they were staying?

There is no way that he can stay in that role if they are truly exploring all options, it is a lawsuit waiting to happen regardless of their decision. The only way he stays in that role is they would have outright committed to the Big 12. I don't think his stepping down should be read anymore than Missouri truly exploring all options...

So this whole press conference was done so they can act like they haven't been exploring options while Deaton was chair, right?

Seriously, how can other conferences expand and do it swiftly, but we have to drag this **** out over months and months:SLEEP:

pretty much.

You don't risk harming the brand you belong to as much as they are by making this decision without knowing you aren't going to be associated with it anymore.

Just kick them out and start inviting.

I'm starting to get a little ticked off there aren't at least BYU and Louisville official. It is in the best interest of all. The Big East minus the teams that are leaving is no better than CUSA, and worse than CUSA/MWC merger, it's already effectively finished so let's get who makes sense ASAP.

I hope Neb, aTm, and Mizzou get pisspounded forever. Oklahoma is staying, and Mizzou knew this for a month now. I'm not that mad at Okla.

Go ahead Mizzou. You have a worse chance at winning the SEC than the Big 12. Have fun with that. You will regret this decision in ten years, and the Big 12 will be even better with the additions of BYU, WVU, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

I think we've seen enough from Chuck Neinas, who is now bleeding schools at a faster rate than I ever did.

No insider info here, but I still think they stay in the Big 12. Shortly after they announce, BYU accepts their invitation to become the 10th team. After that, my magic 8 is cloudy.

I'm pretty sure Oklahoma State authorized their president to act on conference realignment issues after the Pac 12 said no. This does not necessarily mean that they are gone, it's just not the greatest sign in the world.

You are sticking your head in the sand if you think this is not a big deal for ISU.

Replacing Mizzou with West Virginia is a significant downgrade for academics, proximity to ISU, loss of TV market value and loss of a traditional rival. Fox would be justified in asking the new Tier 2 contract being voided or renegotiated at a lower price.

And the Big XII would be justified in suing Mizzou for the value of the contract. Problem solved.
