Star Wars Rogue One

It looks fine playing on my phone via streaming video. If you've seen it in the theater on a massive screen, it was glaringly obvious that it was CGI and not in a good way.
I saw it in the theater on a big screen and I thought it looked fine. Obviously you know it's CGI. I guess the uncanny valley thing doesn't bother me as much as some. I would much rather have those character in the movie as slightly less than perfect CGI characters than not.

Pretty good review IMO. Completely agree that Vader scenes were basically useless to the story, but they were AWESOME. Disagree that the CGI was good. Other than that, basically my thoughts. Cant wait to see it again in the theater.

You didn't think the CGI overall was good?! I thought it was amazing, especially considering how much they blended practical effects with what had to be CGI. It was amazing! You crazy.

My one criticism is with CGI. Probably should have limited it or at least tried to use it with darker background.

Otherwise great film. Story and dialogue were better than I expected. Lack of character development criticisms I believe are unwarranted. Would recommend this movie to anyone. Vader scenes are awesome

Yeah, count me in the group that thought the CGI was amazing, especially due to the fact that they tried to use as much practical effects as possible, just like they did with the originals. Truly, the ONLY CGI I thought was bad was Leia. I thought Tarkin looked amazing. In fact, of all the movies where de-aging has been done that I've seen, I'd rank Tarkin in the top 3 along with Michael Douglas in Ant-Man and Brad Pitt in Benjamin Buttons.

The pilots aren't CGI (other than they might've messed with the background of the scene). Gareth found the footage of Red and Gold leader at Skywalker ranch and used it

Yep, the pilots were old un-used footage from the original that they retooled and brought back out, which I thought was amazing. However, Edwards did say he still had to do A LOT of doctoring on that original footage to make it look up to par with the rest of the film, so yes, there was still some CGI mixed in there.

When saw the movie, I thought they somehow found an actor that looked and talked just like Tarkin. The people who are complaining about that are just looking for something to complain about, or have entirely unreasonable expectations. It's a science fiction movie, not real life.

This is the first Star Wars movie I've seen, but I loved it. I really hope they come out with a sequel about what the rebels do next with Death Star plans, but it will be really hard now that they've killed off all the main characters.

Instead of killing off the Rogue One crew it would have been a better/happier ending if they would have survived and the leaders of the rebellion were all like, "Good job, guys! Thanks for all your hard work... now why don't you go lie low on the beaches of Alderaan for a couple weeks until this whole Death Star situation blows over."

Ha. Shows what you know. I watched the sequel to Rogue One last night! It's called: Rogue Two: A New Hope. I think the special effects really took a step back, except for some of the awesome GCI on Tatooine.

Cool thanks for the intel... I did some quick research on this Rogue Two movie, and it turns out that my alternate ending of rest and relaxation on Alderaan would NOT have ended any better for them.
