Staiger Ineligible!

I am going pretty nuts on this. Like this is not even frickin fair type nuts. Like drive to someones house and beat them until they overturn this. rule.
We can't overcome losing taylor and staiger this year. Unbeleivable. We now have no back court at all.
 
I just don't see the logic in this kind of ruling. His teammates received compensation, and he didn't? It's not like we paid the guy to come to ISU. How does his TEAMMATES' decision affect HIM?
 
This hurts shooting and defense big time.

Probably takes at least 5 wins from us...
 
WIth Congress' recent interest in sports maybe we should all write our congressmen to see if they could look into the dealings of the NCAA. This not only is important in the scheme of sports but also affects the lives of a lot of young men and women.
 
Jackson from Kansas took 6 grand and some clothes a few years ago and he got 6 games suspension. Lucca took nothing and got a year. THis is obviously biased toward the big basketball schools. We need to raise wholly hell on this one. Someone find the NCAA phone number an e-mail address and let's light them up.

Might as well take that down - inclusive and equitable my arse!

Like I said, if Lucca were one of Coach K's recruits or Pete Carroll's recruits - this wouldn't even be an issue. And that other poor kid over at WSU would be eligible to play as well, just to protect the recruit at the "big school"

He's usualy got one nut on each side of the fence he's straddling.
 
Someone needs to make sure this starts getting some national exposure. Mike and Mike may be a good place to start; maybe Outside the Lines; something like that.

Bingo. Who is policing the NCAA? They have once again gone unchecked in their abuse of power to the detriment of a good kid. Miles Brand and his cronies don't have these kids best interest in mind and it's glaringly obvious. Someone needs to bring the Evil Empire down a rung.
 
Does anyone know if there has ever been a successful appeal in a situation similar to this? Obviously C.J. Bruton didn't win his appeal.
 
How on earth can someone give a maximum sentence for something like this? Sure he somehow may have violated the letter of the rule, but that's why you have sentencing ranges, so you don't have to give everyone the maximum. This is just totally ridiculous. It is just like the CJ thing all over again. That ruined a season too. I clearly remember the Lee Love point guard days...

I'm guessing he is wishing he would have taken some money if he was going to get suspended for it anyway!
 
Other than the Reggie Bush incident, can anyone give examples of Kansas or Duke or North Carolina using a professional player? Isn't this what the NCAA is saying? If a team pays it's players, that team is not amateur. Doesn't matter whether all the players receive equal compensation. Given the speed at which the NCAA operates, even if they did listen to reason and reverse or reduce this penalty, the season will be long over before anything happens. We will have to find a way to win without Staiger this season.
 
Some needs to investigate how to get a hold

of the NCCA people. If we can get over 3 million votes to vote for Cy. I immagine with the help of Washington States fans we can jam there phone lines and e-mail for a few weeks and demand action. This is a bad deal and they are picking on them. Does someone on this site know how to get e-mail and phone numbers for these idiots. I don't care if it's the secretary to the NCAA. Just need to slam them with complaints. Also once we get the info we need it posted on ever Cyclone site and Cougars site and get there help. I am sick of the NCAA taking billions from these schools. It's time to speak up and get it done.
 
Between us and the Washington State people we ought generate enough outrage!!

Yeah the kid from Kansas took 6 grand from a booster. That makes him professional. If you don't take money. Your not professional.

Here's my beef: Just like the drinking age increase during the fall of 1986 was "grandfathered in," I believe that this rule should also be grandfathered in. There simply was not adequate time to do this fairly for those involved/affected. I could have seen them coming back with a ruling of keeping Lucca out for 5-6 games, but to penalize him that severely, this late in the game, is CRUEL and UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT!!:realmad:
